Hopefully it's not the partial touchscreen failure issue. Have you noticed buttons at the bottom of the screen being partially or fully unresponsive?

i think i stuffed it///
oh oh. please help!!! I have just tried via the (latest 4th december) upgrade 1.0.2 --> 1.1.2 manual, and it all went horribly wrong at
: step 6. Upgrade to FW 1.1.2
in particlar I got stuck with an itunes error saying itunes didnt recognise the iphone at the end of approx 30mins ie here... "6.3 Wait the half hour or whatever it takes to complete the download and installation"
....to be honest i cant remember what or how I got to be where I am now, but after restarting the computer (mac) and itunes eventually doing something, anything with the iphone, I get this message in itunes:
"the sim card in this iphone does not appear to be supported" etc etc
there is no option to restore. arghhh!!!
....I also tried to do do step 7
but it cannot connect to the device.
--------------
why o why didnt i just leave it be at 1.0.2. I had been using it for almost 3 months. arghhh. please help!!!
edit:
Scott came to the rescue, BRILLIANT
I am now on 1.1.2 and even using GPRS for web browsing on vodafone. the problem for me is that itunes 7.5 did not do as was expected in the last part of step 6 of the manual. not sure why, but it did not recognise the iphone after that. yet it did the upgrade to 1.1.2. ...scotts FIX was to take me back to 1.1.1, and try again. but not letting itunes get in the way overly. it worked.

iPhone troubles
Hey everyone.
I just need some help with my iPhone I've encountered a big issue.
Earlier today I was trying to install SwapTunes from the installer so I could use my laptops itunes seeing as my main computer died. Swaptunes didn't install it went to download > install and it just randomly ended, this happened with a few installs, I updated some file I forgot what it's called and then I couldn't open any program on my iPhone, it would maximize then isntantly minimize back to homepage (phone calls worked). My iPhone is unlocked aand running version 1.1.1 and was workign perfectly for weeks untill this happened. I powered of my phone and turned it on and thats when i tried isntalling the apps once it wasn't working i repeated powering it off and turning it on again, this time it didn't turn on it was stuck at apple logo.
Following on I tried a few things, such as soft resets, I did heaps still no luck, after searching the net I tried reseting through iTunes it gave me an error and didn't let it happen thankfully, at this point I pretty much had lost my data so I decided to see if the phone could sync further then being visable in iTunes, it did, it deleted all my music and photos and started syncing to the laptop after this was done my phone wasn't discovorable in iTunes anymore, but everytime i plug it in to USB dock my pc recognises it and asks me to open its photos. I'm positive I didn't update it. I never selected update. So know i'm stuck here with an inactive phone a copy of FW 1.1.1 and no way of fixing this.
Does anyone know if I can reset the phone to factory settings, manually load FW 1.1.1 and re-unlock it it's only ever up to FW 1.1.1
Currently I have a copy of iPhone1,1_1.1.1_3A109a_Restore, My iphone is still stuck on logo and my iTunes version is 7.4.0.28. Can Anyone please help me or refer me to a post already adressing this because I couldn't find any.

re: 1.0.2 to 1.1.2 upgrade
I am new to this community so hi to all. I have a 1.0.2 fone that was originally unlocked on a pc using iBrickr/pacay and anySim, from memory- I have been using it for 2+months now. A while back i tried to update to 1.1.1, and i got in trouble, so I just restored back to 1.0.2, repaired the baseband using command line method in terminal; I then used Independence_1.25 to jailbreak/activate, the AnySim_1.1 to re-unlock. Haven been game to try upgrading since, although i have done quite a few hacks like "australianising", installing afp access etc. I was gonna follow your "Babysteps 1.0.2 to 1.1.2" guide, but on checking my fone is reporting 04.01.13_G firmware. What do u suggest, is it safe to do the upgrade? Thanx, good site dudes

You can follow the guide as stated & when you upgrade to FW 1.1.2 your baseband will be updated & will need to be unlocked.
Follow the steps as stated you just dont need to virginze as you have done that.
