It just opens the .jar java file, and from there it should be exactly the same as if you used the same method on a Mac.

YES! Of course you can Activate/Jailbreak and 'unlock' this iPhone to do everything an AT&T USA iPhone is capable of (except for visual voicemail) and more....

There are four basic types of device to do this, but they are sold under many different names.

TurboSIM was the first, and I think the best, solution. However, there are now more basic and cheaper devices available.

If you need more info. just ask.

yeah if you havnt run iworld, SMS and calling crashes. On your home screen go into installer. Then go down the bottom to install, then to 1.1.2 tweaks. Click iworld then install. It will appear on your homescreen. Run it, select Australia then it should reboot. You can uninstall it when you're done. You do need to be connected to wifi to install it.

if you don't have installer on your home screen, its complicated for a total beginner. Its hard to help as we don't know what status your phone is at.

Installer/AppTapp is not on the iPhone by default.

You need to jailbreak your iPhone to get it on there.

iWorld is accessible through AppTapp/Installer.

Please read the guides for more info.

iPhone: Where to Begin?

Hey everyone,

My friend and I are completely confused. He purchased an unlocked iPhone (1.1.2) from eBay, thinking that it would be fine just to stick his sim in and use it. That isn't the case though.

Our understanding is that it's "jailbroken"... however when we insert the SIM, the following message is displayed:

This iPhone must be used with an approved SIM.

Can someone please direct us to where we should head next to get the Virgin SIM working. Do we need to purchase a tool like TurboSIM or AnySIM?

Thanks very much,
Mitch and Sam

I think you may have been scammed? If the auction said unlocked, it should be unlocked!

Can you tell me the serial number? That will determine what week it is, and what firmware initially came with the iPhone (roughly).

I suspect it is just an out of box 1.1.2 that was jailbroken (like you said) meaning it's an expensive iPod Touch right now. For a full unlock, you'll need a TurboSIM or similar.

AnySIM will only unlock it, if it was a previous firmware that was upgraded to 1.1.2 (old bootloader), then you can unlock it. But first, tell us the serial.

Huy are you implying that turbosim can make a current model iphone (e.g. week 49) fully operational (with the exception of course of visual voicemail)?
