Upgrading to 1.1.3 in iTunes?

Bad move, if so.

You just put yourself into a maximum security prision
You'll need to wait around to see if someone comes with a solution to lower the baseband for original OTB 4.6 people. For now, I think you are out of luck.

Or you can try putting 1.1.2 back on and buying a SIM clone solution and jailbreaking. Maybe. But I don't think the 1.1.3 firmware can downgrade the baseband either.

Sounds like you are out of luck for a while... could be a long while.

SIM clone solution as far as I'm aware of won't work with the new baseband that is put on when upgrading to 1.1.3 through iTunes. Read it somewhere, and that's the reason why people are stating in bold and large letters not to upgrade to 1.1.3 through iTunes.

Ah yes that sounds right - sorry I just assumed that since he had a 1.1.2 OTB, it would keep it for some reason.

Right you are, but worth a shot since he's got nothing to lose now.

Hi guys, I'm travelling in the US and just bought an 8GB iPhone from Utah. I obviously want to take is back to Australia and need a 1.1.2 version, can you help me identify it? The serial number is 85752XXXXXX. From reading your posts, i believe it's a week 52 phone. However most serial numbers i have seen begin with a '7', this one begins with an '8'. What does that mean? From the serial number, can anyone tell whether it's going to be 1.1.2 or 1.1.3?

thanks heaps
kC.

If the serial is 85752...it means it is a Week 52, 2007 iPhone.

Beginning with an 8 should not mean anything (I think!).

Can anyone confirm?

Huy, thanks for your speedy response. i'm flying out tonight so time is of the essence. Is a week 52, 2007 going to be version 1.1.2? Can anyone confirm if they know what the first digit of the iPhone serial nuber means for sure or even if you've heard something? i.e. a '7' or '8'

Nobody can really say with 100% certainty.

You either risk it or you don't.
