iPhone VNC Server

This is not another VNC client article, but a server one. Allowing remote acess of your iPhone is fun, and practical.

First, launch up Cydia, and download the app called Veency. Nothing will be on the springboard, but its all good, give it a quick restart (the iPhone).

Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.

Now load up a VNC client on your Mac (or pc), my flavor of this is the chicken of the vnc which is Mac only. Bang in the IP address of your iPhone, and let it load up. No password is needed.

Click the image to open in full size.

When it asks, just hit accept to allow the connection to come through.

Click the image to open in full size.

There we go, remote access of the iphone!

Most of the controls of the iphone are pretty simple, click to touch, right click for the home screen, and middle click (trackball click) to press the power key.

Enjoy!

ED: and i suggest not doing what i did, and connect to the iPods vnc server using an ipod based client, as in connecting to itself. Its not good.

Just installed this and it is awesome!

Now I have remote control of my Mac off my iPhone, and control of my iPhone off my Mac.

Only practical use I can see this being used for is texting with a keyboard, but still very cool. I've installed it, and it's working like a dream

Just a heads up - I could only get it working with Chicken of the VNC - it wouldnt work with Leopard's built in Screen Sharing.

Install WinterBoard and have a look through the plethora of themes and things available via Cydia.

I experienced that too, even with the extended hack for the screen sharing app, it refuses to connect, its odd that.
