If you're still having trouble when everything seems set up correctly, just have the iPhone access some data (load a Safari page, etc) BEFORE launching NetShare.

Apparently, weak connections can cause problems and have data flowing prior to launching NetShare solves them.

I can't seem to get Netshare to work - decided to try it out now as I'm going interstate - followed the instructions exactly - my Mac cannot seem to find any web pages. Any ideas?

Problem solved!

Here I am surfing the net using the 3G connection on my iPhone in my hotel room in Adelaide.

Basically, Netshare, for whatever reason, does NOT play nicely with Firefox, or for that matter, with Mail.app. However, fire up Safari, and you can surf the web using your 3G iPhone connection with no problems.

You don't seem to use up much bandwidth either if you're just surfing forums and checking webmail. Netshare is awesome!

Mail.app does not work with SOCKS proxies, and Firefox Proxy settings don't work off OSX's global settings, you need to set them in the firefox prefs.

For some strange reason I did try to set the SOCKS proxy settings in Firefox, but it refused to work. Safari just worked without problems as it uses the computer's network proxy settings.

Can't get it to work

Hi, I've been trying to get NetShare working for a couple of weeks now.

I'm pretty tech savvy, but can't figure out what I am missing here.

I've saved pdf's of set ups from all over the internet and I still cant get it to work.

I'm in Australia on Optus 850mb plan. 16gb Black iphone

Macbook white, latest version of Leopard

Powerbook, also with latest version of Leopard.

On the Gold Coast with great 3G reception.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your time.

I see it doesn't appear on the Australia Itunes store. Any ideas where we can get this from?

It's been taken off all stores I think. It's a pity, as it works well. But apparently in the US the mobile plans give unlimited data so such an app would be a problem for US telcos.

I am loving this app. I usually mix between this and iPhone Modem. Both are great. I get decent speeds on the virgin network.

About 170KB/s in Raymond Terrace <- near Newcastle
