You don't need to convert it back to bin, just upload the XML Plist to the phone

yep, the file was in XML to begin with on the phone. doing the conversion step turned it into a binary.

I wonder why my phone already had an XML plist and didnt need to do the conversion?

Well uploading the amended XML didnt give me the APN menu I want. Odd.

Hang on, why am I editing optus settings. Shouldn't I be messing around with virgin settings, its a virgin Sim. The APN username in the dumps above are yesinternet. Thats not the Virgin APN.

This is exactly why I want it as I need to be sure that I am not using Optus data and not Virgin and being charged for roaming or something like that.

Enough for tonight, try again tomorrow.

Thanks for your help Huy.

Cheers
Len

Optus settings are loaded for Virgin sims as they identify the same.

Make sure you're updating the plist in /private/var/mobile/Library/Carrier Bundle.bundle and reboot once done

I've submitted patches to the BigBoss Repository now and when they update it, you'll find the Packages "Optus/Virgin GPRS FIX" and "Vodafone AU GPRS FIX" listed under tweaks

Hi thanks for the info.

Does this mean I should put the old carrier.plist back on the phone and wait for further directions?

Was I doing something wrong?

You can put your old one back if you want, doesn't matter because my package moves your current plist to a different folder and puts a new one in. when you uninstall it puts your current settings back.

You will find it under Tweaks now!

This is now called the "APN Editing" utility from BigBoss. You can still find it in the tweaks section.

Yeah, the title was way too long so I've changed it

Could someone please tell me what this does? Does it allow you to turn 2G off?
