You don't want that.
You've entered recovery mode, but not DFU.
Where are you at with Pwnge?
Have you created the custom firmware that *should* be on the desktop?

Error 1604 in iTunes with restoring.
Try full reboot of the Mac, if that fails there's a page on Apple support website about fully removing iTunes and re-installing. BTW of course you know you need iTunes 7.7 for 2.0 & pwnage. Also BTW for downgrade to 1.1.4 iTunes 7.6 or 7.5.
I had the same group of problems, incl. 1604, in windows iTunes during a process of downgrading back to 1.1.4 to remove Mail.app settings on a jailbroken iPod touch, then making iTunes do a backup of it on 1.1.4 with no mail settings, before then re-upgrading to 2.0 and then restoring that fixed 1.1.4 backup. Kept me up nearly all night completing that.

yes the custom firmware has been created, and ive entered DFU mode as per pwntools instructions, but i cant seem to get it to start restoring, it just does its "Preparing iPhone for restore" and then fails with an error in the 1600 range
pineapple logo is deff on screen with spinning progress meter
edit, this time it was 1604,
ive deleted the file like it said, and am now trying to restore to 1.1.4 with my imac which has 7.4 on it

Jailbreak is not the same as unlock. You are asked if you are a legit iphone user... say NO.

Say yes if it asks if you're legit.
Also, make sure you're using the correct FW for the 3G iPhone and not the one linked here, also make sure you select the 3G iphone from the device list...

All updated... Was pretty smooth here, Have another 4 or so to go... (for friends and family)
One question to all, Has anyone added the Installer App yet? can't seem to find the version of installer that works on 2.0
I've seen reports of it working and also reports that it's not supported through the pwnge tool.
Anyone done it yet?
