Can I use this guide with an iPhone still running 1.0.1 - I think it was unlocked using anysim. It's a hand-me-down from the UK that my brother bought about 9-10 months ago.
Thanks for any help.

from the dev team blog:
Update 3: If you get Error 1600 from iTunes, try: mkdir ~/Library/iTunes/Device Support ; if that directory already exists, remove any files in it. Then re-run PwnageTool.

Probably better off to follow this one: Pwnage 2.0 Guide - iPhone News & Review
The reason I say this, is that you'll definitely need the baseband to be updated

Same issue here, on a MacBook Pro. Bounces when opening and then just sits there until I force quit.
Weird, and I've downloaded from two different sources.

Generally not much, Bugfixes and the like. but the older ones lile 1.0.2 etc would be different and don't support locateme or anything like that.

If Linux_inside 's suggestion does not work then it's time to do what I did, I thought that I'd bricked my phone, but if you have a NON iTunes 7.7 Mac you can run INdependance - it will take it out of the weird DFU mode.

Has anyone got an idea how long before this will unlock the iPhone 3g? It would be good not to pay Telstra $150 for an unlock.
