I read on the internet that the previous version of the iPhone worked with the Prius, so I would expect the 3G version to also work with the Prius. It is likely that all Toyotas use a similar handsfree set, so I would expect it will work. However, Apple makes no guarantees as yet.

Any reseller with any sense will use Mactalk and Whirlpool (and all the others) to further their knowledge, it is a massive pool of info where u can learn every day.

That Whirlpool knowledge is a worry though.

Silly question but want to be sure

OK I'm currently with Virgin with my current non 3G piece of c@*p phone, do I have to cancel with Virgin before Friday to obtain the iphone 3G and have my current mobile number carry across.... or will Optus simply port it across from Virgin on the day. I'm not in a contract with Virgin, it's just a pay by the month kind of bill. I just want to make sure I have everything covered before lining up on Friday, I have put down a deposit with Optus but I realise that is no guarantee in getting one.

Optus will simply port it. Do not do anything with Virgin - simply go to Optus, tell em you already have your number with Virgin and you want to move across to Optus. They will do the rest

Virgin will then send you a letter to let you know you are moving away from them, together with a bill to pay them what you owe them.

Data Plan concerns

HAVE ALREADY POSTED THIS IN THE "PLAN" TOPIC..THOUGHT I MIGHT GIVE IT A GO HERE TOO:

Hi Guys...firstly great research!! I have just discovered my stupid mobile ph company (SIMPLUS) do not offer any Data Plans!! Although they are powered by Optus, and I have an Optus Simcard, they do not offer any data plans....
I have just purchased a new 16gig iphone (unlocked) and now fear that i am going to occur massive data charges for pushing email, contacts etc using mobileME. Simplus charges me 2.2c per KILOBYTE!!! for uploads and dowloads.
Has anyone got any ideas to what my options are? I am under contract till October next year and will cost me $1200 now if i want to cancell it. Any remarks would be helpfull here.
Thanks

Sim plus & iSIM are fantastic value, but you're right, they have no data plans

If it will cost you $1200 to cancel your contract with Sim Plus, looks like you're stuck with em

Yeah thought as much...Simplus has been great the last 5 or so years i have been with them (have a total of 3 phones with them at the mo). Sux bout the data.

1 question...i will only need to use the iphone for sending/recieving emails/calendar events etc using the new MobileME...does this use data or does the subscription i pay to MobileME cover me for this??hhmmmm.. I wont be doing any browsing.
Cheers

Nope, MobileMe is separate to what you pay your telco for data. You need to pay for the information going back and forth between your phone and Apple's MobileMe servers.
