Exactly. The day I am expected to be a mindless, politically correct droid without being allowed a personal input into my articles is the day I quit MacTalk

Telstra tipped

Optus and Vodafone will both carry the iPhone 3G from July 11, with Telstra tipped to shortly announce the phone for its Next G network (tipped by whom?)

Did you ask them about the training and the iPhone availability after July 11?

Give me their number, and I'll call them!

Training in what? How to use an iPhone? It's a mobile phone! Can it be that hard?

I need to use Telstra for (insert reason here)

Honestly, I have never written to one of these... Sorry big guys, but this is a bit lame... However, that said, I was one of the many (few?) that woke up at 4:00am Tuesday morning to start downloading from Mac rumours (not that Mactalk isnt the place to be) on a minute by minute basis the latest from Big Steve's talk/pictures.

I was more struck by (insert reason here), nice guys....

BUT

Wanted to also say that I was riding in the tram one morning on my way to work and spotted a gentleman with an iPhone. Long storey short, he turned out to be American working for a Telco (Telstra probably) and travelled back to the states every six weeks. In addition to purchasing and unlocking 1st Gen iPhones and selling (giving them away - wasn't bothered asking) them, he had mastered unlocking the bloody things, everything, from internet, to phone, to voicemail. I only write this to pinpoint that with sufficient energy, every aspect of the new iPhone 3G 2.0 should/will be eventually unlocked with ALL its various neat features.

Cheers

Optus vs Vodafone

Does anybody have any suggestions on the two providers, e.g. the coverage of the 3G network that is compatible with the iPhone (not the 850/900mhz) Is there any news on the Data plan, it is interesting that i can get (and have) a usb modem for about $30 / month which gives a few gigs of down load, but on a phone plan the download is much less (100M max)

I would like to use the iPhone to cerf the web from my Mac.

AustralianIT has just confirmed Telstra will offer the iPhone. I though this will create much discussion and created a new thread for it - Confirmed: Telstra to offer iPhone 3G

Do you remember Steve mentioned at the Keynote that you will soon have the option for push in third-party apps - like AIM?

Possibly opens a whole new world to what could happen... I personally don't use MMS any more, it costs 75c to 'push' though around 40Kb data (included is a VGA-sized image) whereas it would cost next to nothing to email though a much larger image on the 3G network to someones email account.

I have to agree with you Andrew, bring on email - Most of Australia will realise this now I think

Optus has the better coverage.
