I tried this method tonight following it to the word and it has left me with a phone saying it requires a sim card to be activated.
i am afraid to go through with it again for fear of totaly wrecking the phone.
is their any one that can offer assistance or any one who lives near me in crib point Victoria (which is about 45 min out of Melbourne) who would care to assist me?

thanks

You pay for traffic over GPRS/EDGE.

Wireless enabled, on the iPhone?

It should only fall back to EDGE (GPRS) if there is no wireless.

Check your repo's as well in Sources.

Or try resetting your Network Settings inside Settings.

It may re-enable wireless. (I wish I could verify these locations but I have sold my iPhone).

I just checked mine and the WiFi button is greyed out, but it still allows you to slide it.

On the other hand you may want to check that you got your correct edge settings in there?
A quick look in the forums should reveal what to have for what carrier.

Don't forget that you pay for that (GPRS) traffic.

On prepaid, Vodafone charges me $1 for 5 minute blocks.

Sounds like it should,

I should have mentioned that this way you may also be charged extra on your phone bill if you dont have some sort of data allowance. Just thought you may want to be aware.

Edit, beaten by Huy
