Cheers for the guide. I skimmed over it and noticed a couple of things. I'll PM you about it laughingbird.
For those that want to know:
6.1 was not needed for me. Community Sources was already a payload from iLiberty+ and didn't need to be installed (only upgraded from 3.7 to 3.8). I used the latest iLiberty+ which was 1.51.
6.3 the Carrier Support was not required by me. In Installer it also says that Carrier Support is for 1.1.3 only so I didn't install it. I didn't need it either.
7.2 was not needed because I never changed Auto Lock to "Never" and it still worked fine (iTunes restored the iPhone, I was unable to change Auto Lock until AFTER iLiberty+ which makes sense because it is required to jailbreak, activate, unlock...).
PROBLEM #1 - FIXED
I am running into an issue though. Even with the tweaks, it does not recognise incoming SMS' from my contacts list (number matching). If I send outgoing SMS' then it will recognise them (since I'm sending it from my iPhone/using Address Book).
My numbers are formatted as 04########.
Incoming SMS' are in normal +61 ### ### ### format. I have also restarted my iPhone since installing the tweaks.
The problem? wpool.com's +61
number support tweak is pretty ineffectual. I used another one (iClarified repository) called "AppSupport Patch (1.1.4)" and it works fine. I'm now able to receive SMS' and have it matched up with my Address Book.
Read here for more, if you want to use a proper (well, for me) method. You will also need to uninstall wpool.com's tweak BEFORE applying iClarified's number support (AppSupport Patch) (just that +61 one (
number support)... the number
formatting one is fine, as is the
carrier support from what I've heard).
iPhone 1.1.4 Aussie Localisation? - Apple iPhone - Mobile Phones - Whirlpool Broadband Forums
In summary?
Use wpool.com's Number Formatting - called "Aus Number Formatting".
Use iClarified's Number Support (SMS matching) - it is called "AppSupport Patch (1.1.4)".
I ignored the Carrier Support from wpool.com too.
PS all of my contacts are in 04######## format... none are stored as +61######### and I have not had to insert TWO numbers for the same contact (in both formats), just the one 04##... format
PROBLEM #2 - FIXED (I HOPE)
Also you may be charged for EDGE/GPRS traffic. Don't forget to punch in some garbage text for your EDGE settings if you want to stop this from happening. (Look inside Settings > General > Network > EDGE).
I noticed some GPRS (EDGE) traffic (Settings > Usage) and am getting charged again at Vodafone's insane rate of $1 per 5 minute blocks. DISABLE EDGE by inserting in a fake APN, username, pass (e.g. "get.stuffed.man", "go.away.please", "yeah.right.man" etc...). Check that these settings STOP GPRS traffic by restarting your iPhone and trying to load Safari and going to a website (or the Stocks widget, Weather, etc). It should complain about EDGE not working (this is what you want... no more hidden charges).
Monitor your GPRS usage... before you get a big bill/surprise.
