I have 1.1.4 and downloaded the applications mentioned here...
iPhone Localisation - Whirlpool Broadband Forums

(you need to install BSD Subsystem first from the System folder)

It all worked perfectly No more australian phone number issues.

hey guys. I'm thinking bout going back to 1.1.4 as 2.0 feels laggy. Does anyone know if the telstra carrier bundle can be copied from my 2.0 install to 1.1.4?

I don't see any reason why not, can't hurt to try.

New phone format files for FW 2.1

Hi All -

Just noticed that the file formats seems to have changed for localisation; the new phone formats files is called:

UIDefaultFormats.phoneformat

with another file in there:

UIMobileCountryCodes.plist

The localisation script in Cydia no longer works as well. (Obviously due to this change) - any ideas?

Cheers.

Not for me.

With 2.1 -

Mobiles - xxxx xxx xxx
Landline - xx xxxx xxxx

I still do put in the area codes, so that is the default mobile and landline number formatting on my iPhone.

Using area codes is worth it, as if you ever travel interstate with your phone you're suddenly going to be calling the interstate equivalent of your contacts.

Yeah Exocet - I learnt that the hardway when I wanted to call my mum at her work...keyed in the number...and proceeded to call someone else!!! I hung up quickly when I'd realised my mistake. Now, all my contacts have the area codes - even if 98% of them are Melbourne based...

Okay, for those of you who have been grieving the demise of our old Aussie Number Formatting tweak, and sweating on the possibility of a new one, there is good news.

A few people contacted me with offers of help in solving it (since it was out of my league) and one of the guys has now cracked it. A couple of us now have it running on our phones with all the old Aussie formats from the old tweak back and working, and all looks well.

It make take a few days to get it up onto Cydia so that those with jailbroken phones can install it, but it is on its way.
