Hi all

I currently have a australian iphone 3g which i got on a plan from optus. Ive been very happy with it, but i am really tempted to now go ahead and jailbreak it, so that i can basically install cydia and use the app winterboard i think its called ? to customise the look of my iphone.

I was just wondering though, once i use pwnage to jailbreak my phone can i simply restore it at any time, and it will be as if i never jail breaked it ? Also since im with a legit plan with optus and using there phone, will i actually have to use pwnage to activate it ?

You can reverse the jailbreak with a restore.

I don't know the answer to the last since I haven't pwned my iPhone 3G. Pwnage should handle activation and jailbreaking.

jailbreaking with pwnage (use quickpwn coz its quicker lol) basically modifies the firmware. When you install an update, your really just updating the firmware (which is why the updates are 205mb~).

So jailbreaking works much like an update, because of this you do have the ability to RESTORE you iPhone to a non-jailbroken firmware, and no one would know you jailbroke it.

Just keep a copy of your original firmware so you dont have to redownload it.


EDIT: I did it with quickpwn on optus, AFAIK you dont activate it with quickpwn, its already activated.
