Apple Logo, the best feature on the iphone?
Hey guys, i'm a student at RMIT and I am doing a presentation about the much love and hate Apple iphone. I would like to gather some feedback to why the iphone is getting so much attention.
1) So guys, if you own an apple 3g iphone... why do you get it? technology wise, you cant send file through bluetooth, the camera is only 2mp.. the break through would be the touch screen, but other phones like the samsung omnia has it as well.. so y? what do you think is the best feature of the iphone?
2) so why did you get it?
is it because of brand loyalty? or the branding of apple? or is it because of the apple logo at the back of the phone?
3) if you dont own an iphone, why do you want to get it?
please give me your feedback... thanks guys!!!

I'll tell you why. It's quite simple:

the fact its apple certainly has something to do with it, but it goes far deeper than that.
Nothing is as fun.
Nothing is as easy to use.
Nothing is as powerful, and not in terms of speed.
Nothing is as good looking.
Nothing is as natural.
Nothing is as good for photos.
Nothing is as stylish.
Nothing is as good for video.
Nothing is as slick.
NOTHING.
Hell, we all put up with the problems, and crappy reception because every other feature is so good.
EDIT: re the camera, is good lighting its sufficient. And most of use who use it are hobbyists is some way anyway, so if we want to take a photo we would use a decent camera. the N95's 5mp camera is no where near as good as say a low end SLR.

Finally a company has put beauty and brains together in a mobile. It all about simplicity. There are little things inside the phones software that you don't realize that make it that little bit more special than other phones. When you tap the home button, the icons don't just appear, they fly in from different angles. When you launch an app, it expands and covers the whole surface of your screen. When viewing photos, there is no need to press a rotate button, just spin your phone.
As for no MMS, ask yourself, how many times have you used it a day? And out of those, how many times has it been so important that you would not be able to give out a message in any other way? The same goes for video recording. How many times have you recorded a video on your phone that has been important, and not just plain 'fun'?
Apple have made using mobiles a pleasure, not just to make a call or send a message. Can we also not forget that this is Apple's only mobile? Your proberly thinking "why the hell does that make a difference?". It does. Companies like Nokia and Sony Ericsson make so many phones a year, that once it is made a sold, they forget about it. No updates, no revisions, no new features. The iPhone, as Apple's only phone, is one of their main products. They have sent out many updates for the mobile and added a stack of new features in them. This means that once you buy an iPhone, you can feel secured that it will only get better.
One last thing I want to mention is Apps. Apps are not available on any other phone (that I know of) and can do so many things from entertain you to give you important information. A good example is Shazam. This is an app that allows you to record part of a music track and tells you what it is. There are sooo many great apps out there and once you download them, the developers release updates every once in a while to make it better.
So you see, in conclusion, it is 'just a phone'. But it can do so much more than a regular phone. Apple has added the important stuff, gotten rid of the useless shit and made one hell of a device.
Let my close by saying, it is also so fucking god damn sexy!

- Get all the smart phones together.
- Use them all.
- If after that harrowing experience, you don't think the iPhone is the best one, then you're a dickhead who deserves Windows Mobile.

I have an iPhone 2G (imported from the U.S.A) and I picked up an iPhone 3G for my wife last week.
To put it in a nutshell reksgwee, using an iPhone is like banging Jennifer Hawkins. Using a Samsung Omnia is like banging your mum.
Try one for yourself and all your answers will come to you.

I played with a HPC today and asked for a demo of email and photos etc...
My iPhone kicked it's butt big time, The iPhone was way more responsive and was a pleasure to demonstrate. The 2mp camera has a very good lens or something as the shots are brilliant.
I do not use bluetooth transfer or MMS anyway.
The HPC was 4GB and my iPhone is 16GB.
The iPhone has a much superior display.

3) if you dont own an iphone, why do you want to get it?
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
1)
The only time I EVER sent a file via bluetooth was as I wanted to get a customised ringtone and photos from my computer to the phone. Now with the iPhone I have handy software and cables to do that. I have a CANON G9 for taking photos, the iPhone camera is adequate if I need to snap something in a hurry. Touch screen< MULTI TOUCH (very much patented).
Best feature - OS X.
2)
I know that (with a few minor exceptions) Apple's product are second to none to use. Rarely cause issues and are just nice. Fanboy - yes! but for good reason. I wanted a device that I could use on a day to day basis and not think about it - it's there. If I make a call, it works. If I want to check the 'net - it's there. IF I want to play a game - bing!

Apple are masters of user interface design and user experience. I was sick to death of having a mobile phone where, just to enter a person's contact information, I had to view screen after screen, go deeper into menu after menu. Just like a Mac running OSX, the iPhone does things the way you'd THINK they should be done. You don't really need to 'learn' anything. It's all logical, intuitive and clever. Newbies and power users alike can enjoy the technology. It's a technological breakthrough and a work of art.
I do have *some* brand loyalty, as in, I will buy a Mac over a Windows machine any day, but I wouldn't have bought the iPhone if it was a pile of shit. Just 'cause it's Apple, doesn't mean it's always best, you have to judge each product on a case by case basis. So I guess you can disclude that reason.
Basically, it's an all-in-one device that's very smart, and a joy to use. Plus, the App Store is kickass

I initially didn't want the iPhone, because of the (lack of) features, it's over-touted GUI, design and features, as well as it's large form factor.
But the alternatives were boring compared with the iPhone - especially since Australia was getting 3G. That was one of the defining factors.
I have to compare the iPhone 3G with my former phone - an NEC N412i, a very thin, flip-phone which had Telstra's "i" (couldn't use it as I was with OPTUS), WAP, bluetooth, 2MPX camera, 16MB HD...
In order:
* 3G (faster than WAP, GPRS) and WiFi
* Form factor (it is beautiful to hold!)
* Apple (it will sync nicely with my Mac and with iTunes)
* Touchscreen (a breeze to use)
* GUI (not only is is simple to use, but beautiful and elegant)
* 8/16GB HDD
* App store
The factors that had NO influence in my decision to purchase the iPhone 3G
* Lack of MMS (who uses this? It is cheaper to send a picture via email).
* 2MPX (I've always stated, if you want a camera, BUY a camera. Not a fan of camera phones)
* Small HDD (compared with what I had, 16MB, 8GB is plenty!)
* Bluetooth (yes, it's crippled. But I've never used it before on any of my phones, so why start now?)

i got the iphone because i wanted to see it to develop software wise. bluetooth and some of the other things you mentioned may be available in the future as the software and hardware grows and becomes less buggy. look at where the operating system mac is now.
