Have you tried plugging the iPhone into your PC while running iTunes?

You need to plug it into iTunes first - it will then set up your iPhone. Once it's set up, you can then put in the SIM of your choice and see if it's locked to that network or not.

How can the owner not know? Sounds suss.

In any event, listen to the two above.

Get it up and running then test SIMs. The one that is accepted will be the one it is locked to.

I have seen a few 3G iPhone knock offs on ebay,

Take a closer look at the pics, one has a white iPhone with a black bit at the bottom on the back and one has a what looks like removable section on the bottom at the back,

Be careful what you buy out there guys!

Put the sim card in the phone then you need iTunes 8!!! Go to apple.com and download iTunes 8 after you do that plug in the iPhone and you will be asked to do some things.
PLease contact us again after you have installed iTunes 8.
