Wow my reception went from 1 bar in the house to 2 haha. Everything else seems fine - not that I was experiencing too many problems before other than the 3g reception and a bit of text lag every now and then

Am I the only person sticking the iPhone into DFU mode to go that extra-fresh feeling when restoring?

I did when I updated to 2.0.1. Does it make a difference though?

Probably not. I think it's mostly the placebo effect
Because it's been wiped clean, I *feel* as though it's better. Can't hurt though!

In an area with 100% 2100mhz 3G coverage. Yet i only get GPRS. I hope the update gives me 3G.
Downloading. 15 Mins to go!

EDIT: Some early observations from people who have installed it.
* More 3G bars (It seems)
* Snappier transitions
* No More keyboard lag! (2.0.1 didn't fix it)
* Haven't has a crash (yet)

Fixed problems with my iPod Touch: Some apps, both free and bought, were failing to launch.
(Convertor, Stanza, Labyrinth LE.)
All back to normal now, following the update.

Yay!! Only took 3 hours...
EDIT: Contacts definitely loads much quicker. 2.0.1 did nothing in this regard.

Well the latest update has definitely made changes to the 3G modem stack. Not sure if its really any better but more quicker to react to change.
I am under the impression that Apple is not doing any more development on the first gen modem so firmware does not break the sim unlock.

I just installed the update. I still don't have 3G reception in my 100% 2100mhz 3G area.
the speed test says i am running on GPRS at 6KB/s which is exactly the same as that prior to the update.
On Wifi i get 1.24mb/s which is slightly faster than before but probably just based on network strain.
I don't know, Optus tells me to take it back and get fixed, but I don't know if it can be fixed... What should i do?

This just in from the folks in the know at DEV team:
[Warning!] QuickPwn and 2.0.2
People seem to be using QuickPwn and a 2.0.1 ipsw to jailbreak their 2.0.2 phones. This may seem totally OK, but you are playing with fire here. What you are doing is flashing 2.0.1 stuff to the NOR on a 2.0.2 iPhone. Please also know that, on the flipside, you can't brick your iPhone. It is just a risky thing to do. Worst case scenario is you needing to have a DFU restore because you flashed older stuff to the NOR of your iPhone than what is intended to be there.
