HELP! iPhone wont go into DFU mode

yesterday i upgraded a friends 1st gen, but the phone jammed up during the process.

i forced it into DFU and tried again, but iTunes kept listing random errors 1600, 1604, 2001, etc

now the phone wont even DFU for me, or even be seen by my computer. Help!

Did you make sure you were using the correct firmware? What program and OS were you using to upgrade?

Same thing is happening to me - I got my hands on a copy of iTunes 7.5 and am loading it up on a ye olde Windows box. iPhone goes into DFU mode fine, but iTunes chucks the shits in 7.7. My plan is to restore it to 1.1.4 with iTunes 7.5. Then go to iTunes 7.7 and upgrade it to 2.0.1 using Pwnage.

Will let you know what happens.

Oh yeah, as decryption has mentioned, alot of people are reporting that iTunes 7.5 might be better suited.

Ah, I see your problem. A little known fact is that the error number that iTunes gives you is the year you need to travel to before attempting to load firmware. Good luck.

Are you using Pawnage to put the phone into DFU mode. If not try it as I have done this 4 times and worked each time you can then restore before trying to update. I restored through I tunes 7.7 first
