Conference calling on iPhone

Hello hello

Quick question about the conference call feature on the iPhone. It looks dead easy to use, but I just wondered if it was a phone-only feature and not a carrier-feature?

I.e. do you get charged for a conference call as you do when you use a landline?

Or does the phone just mash the two calls together and you get charged for the two separate calls with no extra charge for "conference" mode?

Cheers.

Have you been able to get it working as Optus would not for me?

Yeah I just tried a conference call and the merge button was greyed out Wonder why this is the case? Obviously Optus doesn't support it yet but surely it's not a new feature? I thought you could do conf calls already on mobiles. Bit of a disappointment.

I'm on optus and havnt tried yet, but if it works the same as conf calls on past mobiles, you are just charged for the two outgoing calls, nothing extra, if you call someone, and someone else calls you, you can mash them together, and you are only charged for your outgoing call, the other person pays for calling you.

hope this helps.

Works well on Vodafone... if you don't have it set up automatically, you can do it on My Vodafone:

I'm pretty sure it counts as multiple calls if you originate...but if someone calls and you add them in, they are charged.

Optus do not support conference calling on the GSM or 3G networks. It's one of my biggest gripes. There has been a thread discussing this on here already. Try a search for more in-depth whinging

Hello, did you go with Vodafone? If not, do you know if this is standard practice, i.e. inc Telstra, 3, or Virgin too? I'm currently with Telstra, but may move on later.

Its like going out with an ex. I'm still a little creeped out that I went to the Darkside.
