...and this is why I don't have an iPhone 3G, YET.
Please, Telstra, make some affordable data plans, and I'll stay!
Many people here have said this before, but if only Telstra weren't so expensive - their coverage is second to none.

About Telstra - Media Centre - Announcement - Capacity enables bigger downloads on Next G(TM) network
He's right:
Quote:
* $10 mobile data packs will now include 150 megabytes of data - up from 20 megabytes;
* $29 mobile data packs will now include 300 megabytes of data - up from 80 megabytes; and
* Excess data usage rates have been reduced on these two data packs.

Why not get two $10 packs? (150 x 2 = 300MB)
Making people pay the $9 extra seems a little silly - not very atrractive bulk pricing. Clearly $10 is the sweet spot.

^I have no doubt the plans still won't be as good value for money as optus. But they couldn't get much worse.

20MB to 150MB is a fairly significant increase. I wonder if this is for pre-paid data packs as well as post-paid

Thats the amount it should have been in the first place. I don't think Telstra actually realised how popular these phones would be, and that they are a portable internet device.

+1 This doesn't seem very well thought through at all. I assume they must be increasing their higher use plans as well. Their old $59 plan got you 200MB, but now the $29 plan gets you 300MB. Looks like a typical Telstra debacle...

OH YEAH!
Telstra - I salute you.
iPhone 3G , here I come
Sure, the difference is about $16.50 between the two Optus and Telstra plans I was looking at ($29 'yes' plan w/250MB data, 23 minutes calls vs $29 Telstra plan w/2.5MB data +$10 browsing pack [or two], giving me 152.5MB/302.5MB data, 22 minutes calls) - but the coverage of Telstra is soo worth it!
Stoked to be Tasmanian

They're going to have to alter their other data packs, who would choose the $5/5MB plan over a $10/150MB plan and who would choose $59/200MB vs $29/300MB.
I await eagerly the changes to other data packs.
