Could be a Telstra glitch. I got a message like that when I changed my data plan. My guess is they have just implemented your increase and their stupid computer sent out a meaningless message. Like DJY said, check what it says on the Telstra site itself to be sure.

I think the text on each of the Telstra web pages that says "Free To Browse" might suggest it is?!?!

Telsra generally don't know what day it is, let alone how to market a service... They left their run (well, more like a stumble) way too late.
Optus will kill them.

Has anyone else found major differences between what the iphone usage meter reads and what the Telstra site shows??
My phone says i have received 38mb and send 2.1mb but Telstra shows I have used 47mb in total so around 7mb difference.
Also, anyone know when the extra data allowance will come through on our accounts??
Spoke to someone in a Telstra shop and she said Ill get a text on the 15th of this month advising a change. Ill believe that when i see it!!
Anyway, ill be really looking forward to the extra data when it eventually comes through!!

Bump.
Rather than creating a new thread I figured I'd dig this one up... hope it's okay.
Telstra have upped the upper echelon plans. Probably not much use for the iphone as who in their right mind would ever use so much data but I'm posting for interest sake.
Data pack plans (not including calls) are now:
$5 - 5mb
$10 - 150mb
$29 - 300mb
$59 - 1gb
$89 - 5gb
$119 - 9gb
3G and Next G Browsing Packs - Mobiles - Telstra
Still not as good value as the competition but getting there.

^The 5gb used to be 3, and the 9 used to be 5 (I think). Happened on Monday.

When are they going to bring those rates to Telstra Prepaid?
(At the moment, $10 only gets you 20 MB, and $29 still only gets you 80 MB on prepaid.)

Hmm, it they brought those kind of data packs to prepaid, I'd buy an iPhone this instant.
As it stands, I'm not a huge fan of 2-year contracts, and agree that prepaid is the way to go with phones. I'm not a HUGE user, see, but I'd appreciate some kind of data!

The $10 pack is pretty good value. But why do you pay three times as much for only double the data???!?!?!?! (in the $29 pack)

Because the excess data charge drops from $0.50/MB to $0.25/MB. This has been discussed before.
Cheers
Steffen.

Probably never accodring to a CSR I spoke with last week. I am still not moving off Telstra prepaid though, it currently suits my calling/text patterns. I just get a small browseplus every month. Its enough for now, with a 2G iphone.
