Talking Battle Damage? (or I dropped my iPhone and it survived)

I dropped my iPhone 3G 16GB Black this afternoon. I was walking down titled stairs at work today. I retrieved my phone from my jacket pocket as I was two steps up from a landing, fumbled and dropped it! The phone escaped forward from my hand, and landed about 1 metre forward of my position before sliding across the ceramic tiled landing. It stopped just before it hit a brick wall. Given I was on stairs at the time, the height it fell was around 1 metre.

Fortunately the iPhone survived and is still working. The only noticable damage is a couple of small abrasions on the chrome surround near the left speaker. I am very impressed that it survived! I guess apple would have done lots of drop testing.

The screen is about 0.2mm proud of the chrome surround on the left side, whilst in the bottom right corner, the glass sits a smidge below the chrome surround. Not sure if that is how it was though.

I only picked up the phone from the store last thursday night and they had sold out of cases.

I've always been a bit clumsy!

Just ordered this case ( http://xskn.com/Default.aspx?m=Products&sid=286&cid=1 ). I've ordered with the aim of fast shipping from a local supplier to make sure I get the protection i need quickly!

Wanted to get the rebel ( Welcome to SwitchEasy ) but they are only available in US and Canada at the moment.

I dropped my 16GB Black on a bus. Those bus floors must have some hardcore non-slip material in them because it did a good job scratching the glass screen. It has a nice chunk taken out just above the screen and some good deep scratches near the home button.

The visible area only has light scratching which is barely noticeable which is lucky.

I picked up a Power Support Anti-Glare screen protector from a Vodafone store on Saturday. You lose a bit of clarity with the anti-glare but it stops finger prints well and I can't see myself when watching videos now.

If you thought the screen was scratch resistant, be warned!

The phone screen does not sit evenly against the case screen and hence it looks like there is a moisture smudge. That's not so bad when the phone is on because the display is quite bright.

I just use a regular phone sock for mine at the moment... But in all honesty i am so careful when holding it... I never let my grip loosen etc. lol it probably is quite shock resistant but i would rather not test it personally =P if i can keep it scratch free until i can afford a case that would be AWESOME lol. So far i am winning. 3 days ownership and no scratches =D

And as for the slight damage, you must have expected it too prow or something a little bit... I mean dropping it onto tiles is a pretty solid fall... Just be thankful the case of the phone itself is so strong !

Today I just ordered an InvisibleShield and then dropped my iPhone onto grass from about 1m high. The damage - a grass stain on the back that wiped right off

I dropped mine the other week as I was getting out of my car on to the road, where it slid a little as well - no damage at all that I can find to the screen, and a couple of tiny chinks out of the silver around the edge. I've got to say I'm pretty happy with that!

I dropped mine yesterday the same as above, my phone fell out of my pocket as I got out he car. Ended up laying on the road face down, a few small dents on the back, chrome edge and 2 small scratches on the glass near the edge
