Question 'Yes' Optus iphone $79 Cap plan question

Hi guys,
I got my Iphone this morning from OPTUS (Signed over phone) and a letter saying

"You have chosen to set up your mobile phone package on the Yes iphone $79 cap plan with a minimum total cost over 24 months of $3071.9 excluding handset charges"

"Your mobile phone is provided at a full price of $48 which you have selected to pay as a monthly payment of $2 over 24 months"

The question is i signed $79 + $2 = $81 (x 24) = $1944 (no insurance, if + insurance = 24x9) So all up would be $1944 + $216 = $2160)

How did they end up with $3071.9? any idea? thanx called optus and they said wait!!!

No it isn't - the $79 Yes Cap plan includes 700MB worth of data.

I'd call the relevant Optus personal/SMB customer service hotline for clarification, there's clearly been an error made. If you do a search for the thread containing the TCO calculator I made, your figure of $1944 (not accounting for insurance or extra warranty) is correct.

Did you have to pay a cancellation fee to exit your old contract?

keep a record of all paperwork and conversations you have.
