thinking of moving from hiptop to iphone

i currently have a hiptop with telstra, im thinking of moving over to an iphone, does anyone know if i can stick with the same plan and everything work fine or do i need to change completly. im only halfway thru my plan so if i didnt need to change it that would be preferable. thanks

1) Welcome.

2) You will have to change plans, the hiptop plans are only for the hiptop... (99% sure)

Welcome.

It will depend on the plan you are on, and how long is left on it.

Are you going to stick with telstra? or port your number to someone else like Optus.

i got the hiptop about this time last year and i cant remember what the plan was exactly, if i can get out of the plan and go somewhere else without costing myself too much money id like to do that otherwise ill stay with telstra and work something out as id prefer not to be on one of telstras plans as they arent too appealing to me

You can try going to Telstra and working out some sort of deal, but more likely than not, you will need to pay out the remainder of your contract and move to a new one, since the HipTop has its own special plans with Telstra, as does the iPhone.

You could TRY saying to Telstra that you will stay with them on the iPhone if they give you a deal, and tell them that you'll just pay out the remainder of your contract and go elsewhere if they don't (which is probably a better idea anyway 'cause Optus have the better plans for the iPhone, unless coverage is an issue for you.

No harm in asking, anyways. You won't get if you don't ask.

Good luck.

In one of the clauses in the hiptop contract, it states that the contracted plan could be changed. You will have to pay out the phone though...

If you used the hiptop sim in the iphone you will be charged data usage which with Telstra is extremely expensive, the iphone uses alot more data than the hiptop. Definitely dont use that sim.

I guess its unlimited data is its major (only?) advantage. You would have to change data plans anyway because going from unlimited data to 5mb/month would be quite the shock. Telstra aren't exactly known to give something for nothing unfortunately.

On the Hiptop, my brother has one and it is the most annoying phone ever... he lifts the screen up and down all day which really gets on your nerves after a while lol.

Yes. HipTop SIM in iPhone= No.

ahah, I had one for awhile... a HipTop 3, and I would constantly swivel the screen up and down,
until it fell off, and I had to walk around Melbourne, holding the screen separately, dangling.
it's a terrible ugly device.

I bought it for the plan, and I liked to google general knowledge things in lessons so that I could beat the others out.

Lol don't tempt me. And he always bags out my iPhone too. Its like when you are in school and you always tease the girl you want to go out with.

Unlimited data isn't that much of a pull for me because in between work/uni/home i have all the wifi i need lol.

Smoke? of course.
and i disrespect my elders, hate the world, am a drug addict and alcoholic, and love engaging in random acts of violence.

*rolls eyes*

you should at least vaguely observe social trends, especially in relation to mobile phones and "status"

buy one thing one day, and it will be superseded the next.
