What's the best Pre Paid iPhone plan ???

I am in the same boat as a lot of people. No iPhone as yet. Fortunately I have a 'iPod Touch' to tide me over.

A lot of people a clamoring for a 'contract free' iPhone. I think it would be an interesting exercise if people could post what they have found to be the BEST 'Contract Free' iPhone Pre Paid Plan currently available from any network.

Who has the best data, voice and text options for those who just want to be free! ......

Thanks Guys

Virgin non-contract post pay is great. Especially if you make international calls.

If you dont want to go contract, Vodaphone has a month by month account. It only has 100mb of data.

I dont use my phone to make call very much, I plan to go on the $20 a month which gives me $20 worth of calls and 100mb data and I can add data for $12 for another 100mb.

Most prepaid plans at low phone level offer no data.

+1 for the same as me. Although I'm on a 1st Gen iPhone.

It's a real good deal, just a shame the credit runs out after 30 days, which essentially makes it just like a plan.

Only Optus prepaid has data as far as I'm aware, so if you need data they're the way to go.

You might as well just get the iPhone on Optus prepaid and stick with their recharges.

Also, there is no such thing as a prepaid plan. Prepaid is a high cost upfront, and then a variety of recharge options, you are not locked in to a particular recharge amount, or interval. Although since many prepaid recharges these days expire in 30 days, it is essentially monthly, like a plan, however you can recharge with any offered amount, you are not required to recharge $50 every time, you can just go with $30 if you want, or $100 if you need it, it's not a plan.

I have been using Optus prepaid for ages and I was over-the-moon when they announced the data that they would include. I usually get the $50 recharge but I think I'm going to have to be more conservative and restrict myself to the $40...

Edit: Another reason for Optus is their "Always Win" promotion - every time you recharge, you are given a number that you enter on their website. This allows you to win a variety of prizes. I usually end up getting a bunch of free texts / calls to use during the month. It makes me happy

That $50 deal seems pretty good. Think that's the one i'll be trying. Isn't it true that at DSE, woolworths, Big W that recharging is 10% cheaper, making the $50 into $45? Awesome.
