[Telstra] iPhone bill credit?

Telstra's iPhone plan page (Apple iPhone3G Pricing - Telstra) contains a link titled "Customer Rebate Form", which leads to a PDF file.

It talks about an unspecified amount of bill credit that iPhone customers may receive if they complete the form and fax it back. They're eligible if they bought the iPhone within the last 30 days, are on an iPhone plan and can produce proof of purchase.

The iPhone bill credit was news to me, that's why I'm sharing this here. Has anyone faxed the rebate form back to Telstra and received a reply? Any idea how much credit one gets?

Cheers
Steffen.

You will only get the rebate if you bought the iPhone outright at another provider. The amount of rebate you will receive depends on the spend level of the contract you have with Telstra. For example, if you are on the $30 iPhone Plan with Telstra, and you have a 16 gig iPhone, Telstra will give you a rebate so you only paid $399 for the iPhone. If you are on a $100 iPhone Plan with Telstra, I believe they will rebate you the full cost of the iPhone.

This rebate scheme is to make it like you bought the iPhone with Telstra.

Are you sure? Eligibility criterion a) says: "purchased your iPhone™ 3G from a Telstra Shop, Telstra Licensed Shop or authorised dealer no more than 30 days before the date Telstra receives from you the completed form below". This doesn't sound like another provider...

Yes, "authorised dealer"... as Optus and Vodafone are.

The point is, if you purchased your iPhone outright and connect to Telstra for 24 months, they will offer you a rebate with proof of purchase.

$250 rebate!

I faxed back the Bill Credit pdf form last month after buying 2 16GB iPhones and transferring from a non-contract Optus plan.

Just got the first Telstra bill and yippee! We got a $250 rebate - for each phone We're on a monthly business plan ($55 +$10 data).

Very nice - $500 saved from filling in that little form. I really didn't think Telstra were going to rebate us anything... but I'm pretty stoked that I thought we'd give it a crack.
