When I went from prepaid to a contract for the 3G iphone I was told I did not need to change my sim card. I had it for 3 years and it flies on the internet

Rightio, got my iPhone last night but the silly buggers at Optus didn't send me a new SIM. I stuck my 2 and a half year old SIM from my old non-3G Sony Ericsson in not expecting it to work - but it did. (I have no idea if it is a "2G" SIM - I assume not or I wouldn't get 3G reception at all .)

It seems to be fine and even has "Optus 3G" in the menu bar so it looks like it is getting 3G reception ok. I have no idea what sort of SIM card it is but I assumed because it was so old I would have problems.

So, my question is - should I get a new SIM or not bother? Everything seems to work OK at the moment but am I better off getting a new one just in case?

cheers.

if it's showing 3g Then it should be fine.

I got a prepaid yesterday to put in my unlocked Telstra phone. So far it doesn't show 3g... but then my number hasn't ported yet.
