Scared to upgrade your 1st-Gen iPhone to v2.0? MacTalk can do it for you!

For some people, doing all this hacking mumbo jumbo just for a phone is doing their head in, or they're scared they'll stuff it up. It would probably be a lot easier for you just to give your iPhone to someone you can trust and be done with it. Some people may not have a local geek handy to do it - this is where I come in.

If you're afraid you'll brick your iPhone upgrading it version 2.0, give me your iPhone for 20 min and I can do it for you!

If you are in Melbourne, you can either come to my house and I'll do it for you while you wait (only takes 20 min), or on Tuesdays, meet me in the CBD at the MacTalk office.

If you are not in Melbourne, you can mail me your iPhone with return postage and I'll send it back the next day!

It doesn't matter what version your iPhone is currently running, or even if you've tried and borked it and it no longer works, 99% of the time, it can be resurrected. Either way, just pass it on to me and I can take a look. However, I will only do it for 1st Generation iPhones. 3G iPhones need not apply as there's no desperate need to hack around with those and I will not help you.

All I need is your iPhone - no SIM, no cables, no power adaptors. Just the iPhone itself. if you are going to mail it to me, do include the box (wrapped in generous amounts of bubble wrap) as that's good protection.

How much will this cost? $200? $100? $20? Nope, it's free cause you're a MacTalk member! However, if you do want to pay me, I suggest you donate it to Electronic Frontiers Australia instead. In fact, I strongly suggest you donate to them, as that's why I'm doing this in the first place

Contact me either by email - anthony.agius@mactalk.com.au
on iChat: aagius@mac.com
or send me a PM on the forums

I'm pretty flexible, so let me know how is best to give me your iPhone and we can go from there!

If you have a spare phone - take the SIM out of your iPhone, place it in the spare phone and mail me the iPhone and I will send it back
That's if you're comfortable doing that, totally understand if you aren't, hah

Where is the MacTalk office?

(tempted to make a joke about the Oxford Scholar, but it's a serious question)
