Your SIM has sent an SMS???
Sorry, another iPhone thread, my iPhone pops up with the message 'Your SIM has sent an SMS' this happens once or twice a day, only noticed it happening when the iPhone is in sleep.
I have searched on Google and cannot find anything, I am on Optus, does anyone else get this? Wondering what it means, may just to have to call Optus and ask

Yeh I have had this happen to me a couple of times as well as receiving a 'SIM' txt message (with nothing appearing in inbox). I have no idea what it is, perhaps over the air settings or something?

I had this happening when my number was still being ported to the new SIM, but not since.

Mine did it a few times on the first day, then once again the other day when I restarted my phone. Hasn't happened since. Probably just Optus settings etc. Doesn't show up anywhere on my phone and doesn't appear anywhere on my bill, so I wouldn't worry. See if it stops before giving them a call.

I think I got a text about my SIM contacts being backed up successfully after I got two of these messages (I accepted). Perhaps it's that? I'm with Optus too.

Hmm, now that it has been mentioned, I seem to notice it happens after a I have restarted the phone, I presumed it was doing it a few times a day but more than likely coincides with the re-start., will keep an eye on it and see what it does.

I am pretty sure it has to do with an Optus feature called SIM backup. Free backup of your SIM contacts to Optus servers using SMS. Anyone willing to contact Optus to confirm? I hate calling/emailing them.
I have been playing around with the SIM backup settings and 'my account' on the Optus website, but by contacts do not appear to be stored on the SIM or backed up to Optus despite receiving SMS that this is so. Anyway this feature is not needed for the iPhone because contacts are already backed up to your mac or pc so I am not worried - this feature is targeted towards those devices that pretended to be a mobile phone which had contacts which were impossible to sync with a mac or pc.

As others have said it is the SIM contacts backup service. You can go into SIM services deep in the settings and turn it offor if you keep declining when it pops up that may turn it off too!!

Yes I have had this happen to a few times. I wonder what to do because it gives you three options.
If I remember correctly you can touch done, accept or deny..
Another problem I have had twice so far, is the phone suddenly going to no service and the Sim being locked! Crazy stuff. I did a restart and it worked again. Another option is to flick Airplane mode on and off..
I did some searching on google and I am pretty certain that it's just Optus's sim backup service.
This service is useless for iPhone users because the contacts are not saved to the SIM.
Is there a way that you can copy your contacts from you iPhone to your sim card though?
