Great news!

Jailbroken and unlocked iPhone 2G with 2.0.

Only Jailbroken iPhone 3G (with update pending once an Unlock is found).

Hopefully this is released soon.

Damn i wish they got the 3G unlocked... Oh well i guess someone will do it. If not them sooner or later

Sorry if this is common knowledge, but I was wondering if once we have the Pwnage tool for iPhone 3G if it means we will be able to do stuff like is listed at the following page immediately... (otherwise do we just have to wait for those apps to get ported to 2.0 OS? or are they backwards compatible?)

* Ability to make the damn thing ring louder (I think I may just have to either do the speaker poke thing OR crank up the volume boost on my ringtone track(s)..)
* IM client

Other nice to have stuff:
* Ability to take Video with the camera
* Ringtones from your music library, not special made ones

Apparently Pwnage 2.0 is supposed to be released early next week.

8th of July 2008. We have been in contact with the member of the dev-team. Dev-team is the most famous team out there working on iPhone. The news is half good and half bad. The good news first. The good news is that dev-team will release a new version of their infamous PwnageTool. The new version number is 2.0 and the release will happen in the beginning of next week. The good part continues: the tools will do all the magic for 1st generation iPhones upgraded to 2.0 firmware. It will jailbreak, activate, enable 3rd party apps with Installer, enable Apple AppStore and also it will unlock the iPhone. That IS really good news!

That is all what 1st generation iPhone owners could wish for. Now the sad part. The magic does not fully expand to the new hardware - iPhone 3G. The news is not completely bad. The new tool will do some magic for iPhone 3G as well. It will jailbreak, activate, enable 3rd party apps with Installer and enable Apple AppStore. Thats it. As you no doubt have noticed the magic will not cover the Holy Grail of iPhone hacking - the unlock for iPhone 3G.

According to our source (member of the dev-team) they have faced some difficulties patching the new baseband of iPhone 3G. Baseband patch of the modem is necessary to be able to use any SIM cards with the phone. But, our source was confident that they will be able to SIM unlock the new iPhone 3G sooner or later. Well, after all, the new hardware has been available only for a week. With the first generation iPhones it took three month before the first true software unlock was released by iphoneSimFree.com - Choose the provider you want - use any SIM card with your iphone - in any country. Today the community has so much more information available about both iPhones. Therefore we all hope that this time it will be a lot faster.

But whatever happen we will keep you posted.

dev-team have released the 2G iPhone Activate/Jailbreak/Unlock and 3G iPhone Activate/Jailbreak program.

And 3G Unlock is now possible with a TurboSIM !

Now that I can Activate and Jailbreak (have to use my son's MacBook) and SIM Unlock with my TurboSIM - I am trying to get a 'cheap' 3G iPhone out of the states.

It seems that more and more 3G iPhones are getting 'out there' on the free market - either through staff at Apple and AT&T stores, or by canceling the AT&T contract after a short time.

iPhone cost of US$199 or US$299, plus activation US$30, plus US$175 - and some are reporting they weren't made to pay the US$175 and/or the first month of the contract. Seems to depend just when they cancel and where they got the phone (AT&T or Apple store). See the hackint0sh forums for details on all this.

I am checking feeBay for any bargains (none as yet), and asking my contacts in the USA if they would buy and then cancel for me.

Luckily I have a TurboSIM from the 1.1.2 days that I can blank out and re-program with the new software - see the Bladox BLADOX - Home forums if you need the program.
