One week on - how has your iPhone experience been?

Yes..
remember around this time last week i was getting very excited....ready to join the queue at 10.30pm at Brisbane CBD Queen St mall Optus Store.
(My wife wasnt that keen that I stayed all night!!)
but oh well..I can say that after reading the so many ppl that didnt get one then..i think it was worth it...
i have to say as a first time iPhone am very impressed...though having used an ipod touch with firmware 1.1.4...have to say that 2.0 is a bit clunky....here hoping that 2.0.1 gets release soon and address all the issues..!
it has been quiet a week!...optus going down.....!! LoL

so yes...it has been very exciting..!

gosh i love the gps! on the iphone!

iPhone experience has been great.

Vodafone GPRS and 3G charges have not been great. Took half a dozen calls to support to get them to bar my internet ($1 for 5 minute blocks is not cheap!).

Otherwise, I am happy.

I lined up and got an iPhone last Friday.

Since then, I have tried to convince Optus to port my old number to my account, but apparently it can't be done due to their old computer system. (after being told on the phone that it could be done, I'll put you through to ... back and forth).

Luckily the 3g reception is shit at my house, so I complained about that and they broke my contract for free. It's annoying to have waited so long and get caught out on such a stupid little detail. I will have to re-sign up at a later date to port my number.

The iPhone was great. No issues apart from pretty average 3g reception when I get it. Hopefully this is addressed. Otherwise I'm thinking about holding out to see what 3 offer.

For now I'm going to stick with my 2G iPhone - Pwnage due any minute now.

Sure went fast...

Was in the line outside of Optus World Sydney on Thurs night and got my 16G unit at around 4am.

Well, been largely happy with the experience. The downside has been with the lack of sync function for To-do and Notes. Otherwise have shielded the unit with a protective crystal film set, a leather InCase belt case and various apps from the App Store. No regrets.

I got mine on Friday. Really enjoying using of. It's just awesome sitting on the bus being able to surf most places without much problem AND post. Though I didn't realize at first that you can hold the thing with the headphone jack. Facing the right and for a week I've been annoyed with the jack getting in the way when typing in landscape mode.

A few niggles.

- autocorrect cancel button should be between next and done button so you don't need to lift your hand.

- have had it crash a few times but I figure that Apple will patch it over time and it will get better.

- I didn't think the lack of cut and paste would annoy me but it has on a couple of occasions.

- I burn the battery far too quickly. My fault.

- it truly is a fingerpri t magnet. Not much apple could have so e here but there you go.

- I at lots of high nitrate music and he UI can get sluggish while listening to music, especially doing things like typing up long mactalk posts. It can also make the music skip.

- The camera is truly crap. It is fine for the odd picbut the draw rate while framing the shot is awful. Not that I care but occasionally it'd be nice to take a shot with it that didn't suck.

On the plus side:

- it is a great phone

- it has a great browser though scroll bars in text fields would be nice.

- push email will kill SMS once every phone has it. Yay.

- I can develop real apps for it. This is killer for me, no other phone has such an excellent development environment.

Overall well worth the $847

Quite well, actually. Signed contract and rainchecked one on Saturday the 12th. Got it four days later on the 16th. Everything went smooth, no dramas at all.

Played around with GPS a little bit (it's so cool ) Haven't used 3G much though, the signal isn't great where I live (walk about 100m towards the city though and I pick it up okay). But I didn't really get it for the 3G. GPRS is fine for simple email, twitter, etc, and I have WiFi at home.

Only thing now is to find a decent case for it, and get Optus to sort out my online billing stuff. I tried calling them and the automated voice kept stuttering. They're definitely having problems. I'll try again tomorrow.

Also can't wait 'til Apple's notification servers are up and running, and apps start utilising the service. A lot of apps like Twitterific, AOL etc are less useful without it.

I really like mine. There are a couple of things not right, like not being able to forward SMS's and the old cut & paste issue, but apart from that every thing's rosy in iPhoneville.
