Umm, I'm not sure. I did do it from another computer though then tried it again so I did one more restore then it worked. Guess it just updated really late. Thanks for the help guys.

Now I can unlock my Vodafone (outright, 8GB) iPhone when I want to sell it without any 'major' hassles. Good to know!

Previous to restoring last night, I had rung Apple on 1300321456 during the day and talked to someone there who took my IMEI. Maybe they sped the process up somehow, I don't know.
After receiving my email from voda last Fri I just done the restore using the same method as yours NathR32 and it worked like a dream

cheers!

Is anyone else having problems logging in to Vodafone's website now? Also, can anyone else get on to Lara on the tech support phone number 1555? All I get is 3 beeps and it hangs up on me! One more reason for me to switch to 3! Is it true that if you have spent more than $70 on a pre-paid plan that you can unlock your iPhone 3G for free? If so, I really want to do this because I am sick of the automated robot Lara on the tech support line and the crappie plans. What network/plan would you recommend to me if I do eventually get to switch to another network, I would like it to be between $19 - $30 a month and include at least 100MB of data.

Vodafone website: Works although it seems a bit slow.
1555: Doesn't work.

Spent more than $70 on prepaid and get it unlocked for free?
False. Not true. It's $75 unlock online no two ways about it. I've been a customer of Vodafone for 5 years and I've topped up a good $1000+ over the years. I have also got a healthy credit balance right now with them (pre-paid credit ~$100).

Even if I ask they won't let me use that money for unlocking I reckon (which is $75). It's not free. Maybe for post-paid contract customers...

Why do you need to call Lara? I have been with Vodafone for over 4 years, and never needed to call them. GPS is crap on all Australian networks, unless you are in a capital city. And then it's not really that quick on mobile devices.

Under $30 dollar plan, and 100 mb of data eh? Be serious, with that kind of plan, you'll be able to make 5 calls a month.

Why choose 3? What are they better at? Apart from screwing you, yeah you'll be able to talk to someone with ease, cept' they won't understand you, as 3 has outsourced it's call centre to Pondacherry in India.

Put simply, all I want is 100MB of data added on to my existing pre-paid account for as little as possible. If worst comes to worse I can always choose the $20 plan and get the 100MB of data for free, but as a result I will be locked in to that plan for 12 months and I don't think I get free vodafone to vodafone (correct me if I am wrong).
