I have got the message from Optus this arvo, but went to plug it in, and no update.
Will do a restore now and see if that makes any difference.

Just on the phone to Optus and they are saying that I have to do a restore, but they are transferring me to the "Lead Technician" as it appears that they actually have to do something at their end aswell...?

How long did this entire process take guys, from purchase, to requesting the unlock, to getting the unlock?
I have a Vodafone iPhone 3G and would like to know. It is locked to Vodafone.

When I requested mine this morning I was given a ref. ID. in the low 500's. I don't suppose there are that many yet.

Can you find out what they have to do? Lots of people will have to go through the same thing and it will ease the learning process for them if we can just tell em

Well they're not an official carrier yet, and they would have only had the iPhone since Friday. Give them a chance, the thing's barely been unlocked 10 minutes and already you're hammering on the door demanding proper formatting.
