You know you can cancel that backup and it will continue with normal sync right? It's a known issue...

Yeah my iPhone goes through these lengthy backups from time to time. it's annoying. That has finished. No message from iTunes yet.
On the phone to Optus to ask what happens next.
Tried a 3 SIM and Telstra SIM. No Go...

If yours ends up working on three I'm getting prepaid from Telstra (16GB Black) and throwing my 3 sim in there.

A guy on the Whirlpool forums also just got the same message... so it must be soon! I requested my unlock at about 3PM WAST so im hoping maybe it'll also be unlocked today... sucks not being in service range, i wont get the SMS until i go into town or somthing....

I'm glad you've got both 3 and Telstra SIMs to try; if, after the unlock completes the Telstra SIM works but the 3 one doesn't, we know we'll need more than just an "unlock" to use a carrier not in the .plist file.
