I really recommend the Ultimate ears Super Fi 5 Pros. Also recommend getting them from Earphone Solutions - Ultimate Ears Earphones, Shure Headphones and Westone Earphones - The Best Earphones for iPod Comparisons and Reviews as opposed to headphones.com.au, who charge $329 for them when you can get them shipped from earphone solutions for $190.
Took about a week for them to reach me in Perth.
They come with a pretty good case as well, I keep mine in the case in my pocket and just get em out when I want to listen to music.
They aren't designed for the iphone though, so theres no microphone or controls on them, but they sound amazing.

Yep! I have both the UltimateEars & The Shure... the Shure is the superior product - although a little more bulky than the UE's.

Also keep in mind that like all UE's the 4's have a large ear piece aperture, so if you have tiny ear canal openings they may struggle to fit.

Rather than the Super.Fi 5 Pro's, I'd go for Custom UE 5 Pro's:

UE-5 Pro - Custom Store - Ultimate Ears Earphones Headphones Personal Monitors

(no mic. though)

I had a great pair of Sennheiser earphones a while back, I think they were like 'mx500' or something, and they came with a nifty little winding case that i used all the time. Then i lost it on the way home from the footy and my life has never been the same since
kinda looked like this, except it had "Sennheiser" written on it and it was white.

I'll be sticking with my Yuin PK3's for use with the iPhone. No mic, but best dang earbuds you can buy for under $50.

Unfortunately, my SuperFi 4Vis broke after just two months (a common experience, looking at the reviews on Amazon and Apple), so they're in for warranty service, but while they worked, they were pretty good sound-wise, although the button to answer calls was sticky and tricky to use.

I have a Shure Music Phone Adapter and SE210s on the way so I have something to go on with...

Best $130 I ever spent. Kind of overkill for those of you who aren't DJs though (which I'm guessing is 99.9% of you). Still, if you don't mind the size they are sweet sounding headphones.

Good in-ear buds available Allphones for $20.00 brand is Skullcandy, models ; link'd, smokin buds come in carry case set of 3 different sized ear gels small, medium large.

Specs: Freq Response 20-20kHz, 16 ohms, speaker dia 11mm, max input power 100mW, cable length 1.3m, plug 3.5mm gold plated.

these guys block out 90% of external noise, stay in your ear canal (must pick correct sized gels).

I've been using them on my ipod and the sound range is good. I use them when travelling, when at home I have a pair of Sennheiser PX100 normal headphones around $100 from JB.

The Skullcandy's are great vaue for $20.00 and are light years ahead of the Apple ones. The brands mentioned above are excellent if you have the sapre cash :-)

Skullycandy web Skullcandy.

Note that spare bits are available from Skullcandy direct also Allphones price is great US price is $29.00

and no I don't have any financial interest in the brand.

Hope this helps

Personally, I don't think you can go past a pair of Sony Fontopias. I absolutely thrash my earphones, so I don't want to buy anything over $50.

I buy the neck chain ones, which are $22.95. Usually, the right earphone stops working (this happens to me with every pair of earphones I own), probably because I wrap them around my iPod. The Sonys have a one year warranty on them, so I just take them back to JB HiFi, and they replace them on the spot. The most I have to pay per year is $22.95.

As for the sound, I reckon they're the best you're going to get under $200. The iPhone earphones are really harsh in comparison, and not as detailed. The Sonys deliver balanced sound, with the right amount of bass. The black even matches the iPhone or iPod Touch.

And to mirror cherokee, no, I don't work for Sony.

I've got the westone um2 and are fantastic but
Starting to fall apart, so I'm looking at a upgrade, like the shure 530 or customs like the triple driver from freq. Good to see
People here with decent phones and not the tinny rubbish from apple, the irony is I'm listening through that crap right now on the train because as I said, my um2 are done. It's painful!

This place (Wickeddigital) has some nice ones too - I use the Shure (older E4G ones, seem repalced with the SE range ) .. I note they have klipsch on special atm - no Idea what they are like though .. look reasonably priced though.

I just bought this off eBay to store my earphones Monster MP3 MP4 Headphones Cord Manager Cable Organizer - eBay, Other Accessories, MP3, Digital Accessories, Electronics. (end time 16-Jul-08 08:51:23 AEST) maybe not so much for the guys since it only seems to be in pink but it seems like a good idea. There's heaps of cable wrap things on eBay all for around $10.

'course, for discerning listening you can't really go past a pair of Grados: Alessandro: MS-1. They are kind of clumsy to bring around outside though, and look downright hillarious when connected to a current iPod shuffle

Also highly highly recommend: Koss PortaPro. I've had them since 2001 and replaced them when the first pair got stolen. Massive sound, they pack up small, very very comfortable (with adjustable settings) and very stylish.

Is anyone selling an add on clicker that can be hacked into existing cable? If so I'd definitely try modding my PortaPros
