[Merged] How much iPhone 3G data have you used?

I was expecting to chew through 1GB a month... but looking at the downloads on this thing... I don't know how I could do that... its been 5 days of regular and reasonable use, and I can barely push it past 50MB. This thing is awesome! It really does surprise me how little data this thing uses.

And yes, it is always connected to MobileMe too, so that will have part of that data, as well as the Apps I've been downloading through it. This thing is unbelievably data efficient

Watch more You Tube!

50MB in five days is much more than most Telstra users are going to be able to afford.

I was concerned about going over the 500MB allowance with my iPhone - but after 5 days of using it quite abit to show off to people (although not youtube) I've only just hit 20MB today.

This is why all the pre-launch "I need at least 3GB!!!" threads were so funny. I'm sure it's possible to go over 1GB in a month, but I couldn't do it if I tried.

Thumbs up

I have been downloading apps, using GPS, browsing news, mactalk, email since Friday afternoon and my download total is 101MB. on an OPTUS $79 cap plan.
Excellent phone and 3G experience (so far).

I am so glad I do not have to use Telstra NextG like the rural/regional folk.

Yeah Optus got what is extremely rare from me: a compliment.

I went onto Optus - Welcome to Optus.com.au, and told them that they were "the most reasonable and considerate of all telco's over the iPhone issue, and despite my previous hatred for [their] company, [they] have won a customer"

I also went on to ask them not to drop the ball, and to encourage good pricing like this. Obviously it is affordable for Optus in the long run, so they should see what people are doing: voting with their feet and wallets. Optus lines beat Telstra and vodafone handsdown on Friday, and it is no wonder. They need to keep the good work up!

I've hit 25mb since Saturday. At this rate I should be able to get to 200mb. Though I'm still glad I went to the 59 cap, no need to worry about data usage doesn't look like I'll go above 500mb. And the extra $50 in call usage is good I've been using the phone much more than I expected.
