I heard it through the grapevine. But apparently it's backed up by Apple. No idea whether this means RCs will be. Let's hope so!!!

So I finally got time to go to the Optus Store on the corner of Collins/ Eliz Street. I was very polite and asked if my iphone was in as everyone else I know who ordered theirs on the 14th got the phone on the Tuesday. They showed me the magical list, and low and behold I wasn't on there, they'd already contacted people on the 15th and 16th to pick up their phones, but my name was missing from the 14th batch. They handed me my phone and apologised, so now I've finally got the phone.

Skil, you were right about my name being left of the list. Maybe you should go in and very politely ask what the status is. Would be nice if they confirm the September rumor.

I am so happy mine finally arrived, the day before it was suppossed to. Feeling for you guys! It's dodgy when the day you have been told comes and goes.

Damn Optus are horrible to call..

Is this iphone related or is it always this bad just to get through?

Argh.

You know what's almost worse than not having your iPhone yet?
Having just received your iPhone and not being able to activate it until Monday morning.

That's right, if you switch to Optus and receive an iPhone that you ordered over the phone, you can only activate it during business hours, Monday to Friday.

What's worse it that they refused to deliver to anybody but the named account holder during the day today. No spouse or other authorised person is allowed to receive the package. So I went to the damn airport courier depot after work, then got home all excited and spent half an hour on hold with four separate people to eventually be told to wait 2.5 days.

My iPhone is inviting me to make an emergency call, but that's all.

When eventually you do get through to a human, you have to be bloody assertive, and even ask to speak with an Australian!

I have been trying all sorts of Optus numbers and ways of getting through for two days. Quite often the call just cuts you off and other times their people just find it all too hard, so they transfer your call to the Optus hold music )for how long I don't know, I kept giving up).

I called at 4:00 in the afternoon that my iphone arrived (Thursday just gone). Eventually got through, jumped through all the hoops to have the phone activated "please hold"......

Meanwhile I am hearing Optus staff talk about where they are going tonight and whether they should get drunk or not. I pipe up with "Excuse me, I can hear you...".

BANG! Phone slams down. The bastards hung up!

Tried calling all Friday. Remained on hold for a really reasonable amount of time before I would give up (I was at work, I had to take other calls and actually get on with my work!).

Called the Optus switchboard at around 5:00, spoke with an AUSTRALIAN!

Said how pissed off I was and how hard it was to speak with anybody, this girl was actually OK! She said activations were closed at 5:00, I said hey it's just got past 5, I'm sure there is somebody in the building still who can deal with it. HOLD PLESE, yes there IS somebody here!

We go through it all... she said within four hours it would be sweet. Still not (like 10 hours later) but I am happry to wait.

I hate that the stores around my area now have stock of 8 and 16gig iPhones but they will not sell me one because i want one on pre-paid. i dont want to unlock it, i just want prepaid so i don't go nuts and get a massive bill at the end of the month.

have been told be a re-seller in my local shopping center (won't name names here) that it will be a month or two before they will have pre-paid in stock.

didn't think that there was a differance betwen a pre-paid and post-paid iPhone?

i will happly wave the cash in front of them but that just dosen't seem to work these days, it's all "let me sign you up to one of our glorious plans", i even said i would go with a white iPhone.

and not to mention that they lost my details that i left with them in the 12th july "did you leave them with (girls name that i can rememder)?" "sorry i didn't get the name but it was a girl" i said. the 2 sales people just looked at each other in a -whoops there is another name we lost- kind of way.

the staff seem nice but i looks like the store is run by kids that have the 'too hard basket' under the counter.

still they are better than the next closest re-seller thet when i asked about the stocks of iPhone, the guy just rolled his eyes then sighed and said we have no stock and don't know when they are coming in.

anyway has anyone picked-up a pre-paid 16gig iPhone in the south east brisbane area the last couple of days?

I think i might try and cancel my contract. been waiting since the 13th and was told 1-4 weeks. Last week was told next few days. Now being told 1.5-2 weeks more. ridiculous. apparently have to go to the store and speak to the store manager.

any advice on how to cancel a contract?

Well no don't have ideas, but I am going to do the same thing. I am pretty annoyed now, being told to wait 'til Sept 12! AFter being on hold for 1.5 hours.

they won't put me through to anyone that actually understands what i'm trying to say on the phone.
i've been waiting 3 weeks for it now and i am supposedly first on the list for a 16Gb black and hornsby optus, but i want a credit for this months bill.
why can't they put australians on the phone?
