Its almost been three weeks. I was told last sunday that it would be the next few days but i'm starting to doubt that. So tempted to cancel (somehow) and line up at apple.

What's the dealio? where are they all.

Well I ordered mine over the phone - mistake #1! Was told Riday 1st Aug (today). Hopefully I'll get surprised and it'll turn up in the next hour but I REALLY doubt it.

Tried ringing, you just sit on hold for hours. It's not good service.

I signed up at the OW store in Perth CBD on 15th Jul, was told a couple of weeks. Wasn’t too happy at being told I needed to sign up to a contract, but if you are not given an option what can you do.

When I rec’d my first bill last week, I rang Optus and told them I was not happy being charged for something I had not yet rec’d. As I was passed along the way, customer care rang the store to enquire about delivery – was told a week to a week and a half (this was on Mon am). Enquired yesterday and was told a couple of weeks….

So today I decide to call and cancel the contract, but I thought I would check about poss delivery first – told up to two weeks, but they do not know. I said I wish to cancel and she says I need to contact customer care, customer care to retentions and 30 mins later got told I need to cancel at the store.

Go to the store, the drongo at the checkout smirked and said I need to contact customer care. I said no, I need to see the manager. Manager said I need to contact customer care…sigh. After ringing from the store, customer care started talking with the manager. The manager now says she needs to talk with the account executive before she can cancel.

Ring TIO, get complaint no, ring the optus # given - told they need to investigate for 2 to 5 days before they can do anything.

20 mins to commit me to a contract worth over a thousand dollars, and 5 days to cancel…god this is shitting me.

I finally got through to Optus...

Basically ordered the phone on 13 July.
Was told delivery would be on Aug 1.

They now have told me due to a shortage of black 16gb iPhones, it won't be until Sept 12!

I basically said I should have been told this when placing the order, not on the expected day of delivery.

They said their sales system is not linked to their stock availability system.

Anyway my stance is that the customer only cares about the outcome. I was promised something, and haven't received it. I am really annoyed at Optus. I will now cancel all my Optus services as I won't be lied to!

I understand certain things but basic communication surely is not that difficult.

I'm in exactly the same boat!! Is there any recourse for us to cancel the contract? I am very tempted to go to Virgin/Three or even telstra now!!

Not sure, but when I suggested to the girl to cancel the order, she asked to be 'given another chance' and will get sales to call me. I already have broadband, TV and home phone with them and those contracts all expire in 2 weeks so I'll say to cancel the lot if they can't pull their socks up.

Do I have to wait 'til Sept 12 to be told I then have to wait 'til October? Then November? It's not my issue if Optus's systems don't 'talk' to each other. If I took this stance with my customers, I'd have no business, or job!

I'm curious to hear
• when & where you rainchecked
• what you rainchecked (phone, plan, outright/repayment)
• how long they told you it would be
• how long they've told you in the intervening time (how much the story changed)
• when you actually collect your phone

I'm curious about whether how much money you'll be paying factors into delivery priorities.

e.g. this is mine
• when 20 Jul,where OW Morayfield
• what 16GB black, $19 Cap, 24 month repayment
• told me 5-7 days
• every week they tell me it's another week
• still no phone

Rainchecked with Niddrie OW on Mon 14th July and was promised

1) Delivery in 5-10 days
2) Contract wouldn't start until the phone was delivered.

Guess what? Went in today, mad that the contract had been billed to my account, and the word on delivery is now SEPTEMBER.

Nice one Optus - and while I don't normally blame staff at the store, I asked to cancel my raincheck, and they said call customer support - turned their backs on me and went to try and sell an iphone to another bloke!

Anyway, I've created a Facebook group called "Optus iPhone Raincheck Victims Support Group!" - I'm hoping to get a few (hundred/thousand? members to join to try and get some awareness going on, so if you're a facebooker, join up
