Anyway, no update on Collins/ Eliz store. No call and to be quite honest, I'm not expecting one. Mildly annoyed at the fact that I know of 5 ppl who have rain checked the same white iphone I did, on the same day, and they have already received theirs on Tuesday.
At least Optus have made me set my expectations of good customer service low for the next 11.5 months.. Not that I'm counting down or anything

Update on Collins Street Optus store:

Went into today to ask for a new sim as I was told by optus to do, because of reception issues etc. The guy checked my sim and said this is a new sim (actually 2 years old) and I should not need a new sim. This would be the same as in an IPhone. I told him that the shop has been very inconsistent with their stories around delivery of the Iphone. He looked at me and said something like, well... it is Apple's fault. I then turned the conversation to promise made by store and not delivering and that I wanted to cancel my contract.
"Ring customer services, because I can't do it". I was told that the shop should be able to do it, but no he said that if he would ring customer service they would ask if I was in the shop. I said "well I'm in the shop now so please call them". There is the phone (down the steps) and the number is on the wall please feel free to call yourself.

I decided to give it a go and at least get Optus to cancel my phone with the shop. Rang and explained the behaviour of the shop (rudeness, inconsistent messages etc) and that it was not about getting out of the deal, but I just didn't want to deal/ring/walk into the shop.
The guy from customer services listened, made a few enquiries, transfered me to the sales. There they were happy to cancel the deal with the shop and "re-sign" me over the phone (no cost involved). He said there are only WHITE 16gb phones and the black ones are coming in September. Was happy to move to a white one. All done and dusted, delivered next week at the office. NO MORE COLLINS STREET DEALING for me.

I am curious to as if this means that my RC of 16G Black is coming in on September, while the guys at the store practically guranteed that mine will be coming in 3 weeks.

Really annoyed

MacD, I understand your frustration, even more so than mine, when you look at the fact that the current situation with White 16G isn't as bad as the Black one....

My worst fear out of all this is that in a situation where there was a screw up with the RC list and names like yours or mine can be "skipped off" and went along with the next one. The big trouble that makes this situation worse is that they won't look into this list even prior to our request.

I am more so than worried about the whole out come of this

I doubt you're just perusing this thread out of interest, but if you are... buy from an Optus reseller, not Optus - Telechoice et al seem to get faster deliveries...

Also, make sure you check the phone thoroughly for cracks on corners/openings - (don't know if there's a MacTalk thread) photos on this thread 3G - Cracks in Plastic Housing - Mac Forums

After weeks of waiting, you don't want to take home a faulty iPhone, do you??

WEEKLY REPORT:

Just made my weekly call to OW Morayfield - maybe next week, they tell me.
Expressed my dissatisfaction. They gave me the Customer Service number 1300 300 937,

who spoke with Deliveries (heard that one?) and the Store and obtained information that I couldn't get - there are 9 people ahead of me on the Store's raincheck list, so it should be any day now. They WILL call me when it's in. (of course, but I'm already paying for the full service & the phone!)

Why couldn't the store tell me that?
Are there -really- 9 ahead of me or does 10th on the list just sound like a good number? I note that no one here has been given a number.

I'd like to think I'm special, but everyone seems to be getting this kind of run-around - next step, TIO?

Customer Service tells me I can get the store to organise (over the phone, while I'm there... with Customer Service) the appropriate refund for services I couldn't use before phone was delivered. I'll tell you how that goes.

Check back for further updates.

Summary so far -
20 Jul - signed up 16GB black, Store told me- maybe Friday or Monday
25 Jul - called store, How am I doing? maybe next Friday
01 Aug - called store, How am I doing? maybe next Friday
01 Aug - Called Customer Service, 9 ahead of me, maybe the next few days

The last I heard the Macquarie store still had over 100 unfulfilled orders. They are still trying to fill orders from Sun 13th July.

Down with Optus prepaid stock! Cancelled my raincheck today and got my $100 back and got an 8Gb from watergarens Telstra store today. They (Optus) do however have the plans available and I think there's no need for raincheck as I recall one of the staff saying "We have the stock for plan now, but not for prepaid". By the way, stores I've asked and have answered with "We have stock" are Watergardens and Deer Park. Good luck!

just been told 3 weeks by OW elsternwick where i rainchecked and strathfield southland where i was thinking of changing to, as they only have 2ppl on their rc list for 16gb black. now thinking of going to mymac and getting a white one today, seeing i'm going os in 2 weeks

my mate signed up on the 18th for a black 16gb and got his yesterday 31st and i signed up on the 20th for the same phone so i decided to go in and see where i was on the RC list and they found mine as a loose leeflet ready to be assigned to the next iphone to come in so i missed out by one! but i cant complain i just feel sorry for all that have been waiting since the 11th still
