RC with optus world watergardens for 16GB white, no payment made, still using prepaid sim, wondering if I can cancel RC without any penalties. Reason being they can't give estimate date for stock to arrive. What's new right?!

hooray..got the call today at midday, went down to OW northland, picked up 16Gb black, and was told "no you cant unlock phone from optus, and you'll need us to unbrick it". took it home sealed in the box, connected it up at home and works fine. rang optus CS whilst updating and got the unlock organised. all good so far. just waiting for that sms....only 16 days from RC...

In hindsight if I had of known it was going to be this bad then I would have gone to the Apple Store. I was prepared to wait as long as the Optus shop gave me a realistic timeframe for delivery of the handset. But the lies and disinformation that have been spread has only made it worse. And really 90% of the blame has to fall on Apples shoulders. They are reknowned for their smoke and mirrors when it comes to releasing and supplying product.
So I will just wait. I am not going to go through the hassle of trying to cancel my existing contract.

haha, I'm convinced I've ordered my phone at australia's most hopeless optus world shop, Watergardens. I rainchecked on the 11th of July at 8.30am (so, presumably, I'd have to be up there in terms of raincheck list position) and I'm still waiting.
Their claims of having not received a single 16gb black phone since launch day seemed to be backed up by the horror stories on these forums though.

No, my work is quite serious where you sometimes get to a point where you can't even see this forum. Hopefully things get better today?
Just to make sure, if they don't sign you off by next monday, you can make a pretty legitimate argument because our 3 weeks is up as they promised.
As slow on RC as they are, I wish they can really keep their words, because last thing I need right now is a distraction

You should be able to...ring TIO complain, they'll give you an Optus number, ring them (that is the customer relations team) tell them you want out...they'll sort it for you...easy as that!

Watergardens is starting to look like one of the only stores Australia wide that hasn't seen a single 16gb. There appear to be a few still out there, but not many!!
I did notice that Watergardens are one of only 4 or 5 stores in Australia that are now the "new" 'Yes' Optus stores. Think they should be called the 'dont know' Optus store. This is not a good start for a new store image.
I hope we hear something today!! Still without a phone here and starting to get frustrated. My luck I will breakdown in the middle of nowhere and no phone to call for help!

What else can we do?. The store won't help, Optus won't help. I'm out of ideas.

OK. So I pre-ordered a 16GB Black iphone on the 11th July from the Blacktown, Sydney store. A week after I ordered it, I was told by the store that it would take a week and a half. I just rang them 5 minutes ago (2 weeks since my last call) and they told me that they'ed call me when it gets in. They also stated that they didn't know when they would be receiving any more prepaid stock. Furthermore, that "it just depended on Apple" as to when they'ed receive the stock. Very frustrating. I also asked if they knew if any other stores had stock and they advised me that they couldn't tell me.
So I called the optus store in Sydney CBD and they advised that they have not received any pre-paid stock since the 13th July and they didn't know when they would be getting more.
Has anyone else pre-ordered a 16GB Black pre-paid phone? Are you in the same boat or have you already received it?

Has anyone who was told 1st of August over the phone with optus received theirs yet today?? Everytime the buzzer goes i almost die with excitement!...nothing yet but it's still early.
I hope it wasn't just an estimate....he did say "where will you be on the 1st of August to take delivery"....so I am confident

I am the same but when I got my consignment number off Optus and called Toll to track it THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF IT and told me to call Optus! I am now waiting on hold. The Toll guy said that either the consignment number was wrong or the goods are not ready for delivery. Frustrating!
