"We'll give you a call as soon as it comes in" - Optus Employees

It's not really a bitch-thread, but I was just wondering, those who rainchecked their iPhones whether it be postpaid or prepaid (and if you did get a call, please specify for which type) actually did get a call from Optus saying that their iPhones are in and ready to be picked up.
And the reason why I started this thread is because, it can be safely assumed that there will be plenty of raincheckers out there, and the possibility of them getting through to all of them is very minimal.

So yeah, personal experience; I've put a $100 deposit for an iPhone 8g and every time i give my local store a call, one of the most frequent responses is "we'll give you a call as soon as it comes in".

Experiences anyone'd like to share?

Rainchecked a black 16GB on the 14th July on a plan at the Strathfield in the Myer Centre, Brisbane. Still waiting. Funny, when I signed up for it, as soon as I got home I realised that he'd accidentally put me down for a white instead of a black. So I called up and asked if I could change it to a black, like how it should have been. I think I'm regretting it now. I'm positive I would have had it by now if I'd left it as white...

Well, patience is a virtue.

No deposit, but i'm post-paid (24 months).

I called the Chadstone store just now and got the 'no-one's in attendance' message. Worst part is, i felt almost bad calling them... like having to ask your boss 'what was that thing you wanted me to do again?' Knowing that they are already in the shits with you.
Although having waited almost two weeks, i felt that my call was quite warranted. However, i knew that they would just give me the 'wait for your damn phone call' line and leave me hanging.

Lol... Yeah, I felt bad ringing the FIRST time... Haven't called back since. Does anyone here work at one of these stores? I'd love to know how many calls you get per day.

I rainchecked one in Albury optus and got it within a week. I also rainchecked another at optus, Marion Store SA. It would have also been here within a week but when I called to ask if it was in the guy said "no - we will call you" couple days later I went in and it was there and I found it it had been there when I called about it.

So, 2 things. You will get one (post-paid) if you raincheck and it does pay to call every couple of days (after the initial 5 days to a week)

Unhappy OW Darwin NT

RC'd at Optusworld in Darwin (City) 21/7 whilst up here for a short break. Consultant was adamant that 16gb(black) would arrive in 7-10 days, even discouraged me from ordering when i get back to Sydney as it would take much longer. I wasn't unhappy with the service at all, but if it doesn't arrive in the next couple of days i'm not exactly sure how they will get it to me... Will i have to leave my simcard? Could they activate it without me and then post it? I'll try for a solution from them today.

FYI My number was ported from 3 so my old handset is now useless brick and like many others my fallback phone is a piece of junk with no numbers on it!

EXACTLY my dilemma!! After not having a handset for about a week, i got a friend's phone temporarily which works, but of-course, no numbers or anything... i'm reluctant to use it just becuase i don't want it to store all my details and messages etc and then having to wipe it all when i finally get my iPhone!

Called Chadstone again, still no answer. I want it, i want it, i want it!

Optus should be providing free loan phones to those of you still waiting.

That's what they did for me, while I was waiting. I ended up cancelling my contract though as they said I wouldn't get the phone till September.

Now happy on Vodafone, and replying to this thread through my 16GB Black iPhone.

I should confess, in thier defence, Optus did offer me a loan phone, but they did not have any working ones left.
I don't blame Optus for the lack of distribution, i guess the facts are that it is not really thier fault as it lies at the source (Apple) and the type of person who works on the floor of an Optus store isn't quite the type of person equipped with the social graces to combat a situation like this effectively. I had a real drop kick service me at the Chadstone store. It seemed that all he could do was perform the minimal requirements of asking me the questions presented to him on the computer screen and producing the forms required to be filled out.
I'm sure there are some diamonds in the rough but (thankfully) my experience with OW staff is not particularly diverse.

Ok, for all those waiting on phones from OW Watergardens in VIC i have good news and bad. They got 40 8GB phones today. However, they still haven't receieved a single black 16GB iphone, hence I'm still waiting and have been since the 11th of July. The store advised me to call Optus, which I tried to but was on hold for 40 minutes and gave up.

I have a feeling that it is similar with situation in Collins/Eliz Store, looking at the thread seems everyone who ordered 8 Gig or 16 white has already received theirs.

May I ask what the point of calling optus was for?
Did they give you the option of taking an 8gig?
Am starting to consider taking an 8!!
