I am an existing Optus customer and put down a deposit on the day they were announced and later registered my local Optus World in Shepparton for my collection store for a black 16G. I was the third person served on Friday morning at 7.15am and there was no iPhone for me or anyone else present!

Some people have since received a few white 16G and 8G models from the store but not one black 16G that I'm aware of. I did a raincheck on the morning I remain first on their list to receive one. They have told me they have absolutely no idea when one might come in, but will call me if a white 16G model comes in case I decide to change my colour preference.

It is really frustrating to read about thousands of iPhones being snapped up in Melbourne and Sydney with some stores alone having thousands of supply just to themselves! Sure it doesn't have the same population base, but Optus World - Shepparton would service about a 100km radius covering north central Victoria and southern New South Wales and all we get is a handful of stock. It would appear someone don't care much for their country cousins.

Not my store...if you didn't sign contract they wouldn't hold you a phone.

I would have, but they had Vodafone iPhone posters all over the store, so I just assumed they were only doing iPhones through Voda.

That doesn't help spilla I just thought maybe someone else on here from Adelaide went to Allphones to sign up to the raincheck and see what they got told when their phones will arrive...

I rainchecked a phone at Tuggerah... They only had nine phones on the Friday and I was 10th in line...
Yesterday they got 8Gig Raincheck phones in!!! VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!! WHERE ARE THE 16's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I queued up on Friday morning (6.00am) at the Optus store at Chadstone. I was trying to get a 16G Black pre-paid handset. It was rather frustrating to find out (after waiting in the queue for 1h) that they were our of pre-paid handsets =P

I spoke to the manager to enquire about why they didn't tell people waiting in the queue that this was the case. I imagine it had something to do with the TV crew in front of the store.

I got his card and have been in contact with him via e-mail to try to get an ETA.

This is what he had to say as of yesterday afternoon:

"Unfortunately I do not have a firm date on the new stock however I will keep you posted via phone or email with any updates (even if there is no news).

I can confirm that I have escalated this as a priority within the relevant departments and as soon as they can commit to a timeframe, I will be in contact immediately."

I rainchecked at Allphones Norwood for a 16GB black iPhone at about 9:45am on Friday. I think I am the 2nd on the list for that particular phone (there were about 6 people all up on the list at that stage). When I first went in there they said they would get more stock on Monday (14th) but once I signed the contract he said that it would be about a week. I have been calling every day and yesterday they said they had no idea but hopefully the end of the week still. They way they were talking though, was that they don't even really know how many phones they would get even when they did come in.

I signed up with optus. I don't think that particular store was signing people up through vodafone.

Just called Allphones.. Not blaming them or anything.. but they've not been told yet when they'll arrive.. They're waiting on Optus who are waiting on Apple...

I really don't know what to do.. because our current phones are pumping out shit reception (because of the frequencies they use) whereas another phone (mate's one) we tried is fine!

All I want is confirmation that they're on their way.. and that they will arrive tomorrow as promised.. if I wasn't on a contract I wouldn't worry so much... but now that I've signed up to Optus.. hence expressing my concern..

What are my options besides wait? :\

Im pretty happy with the reception on my k800i, always on 3G etc

will see when the iphone comes but no reason it should be any worse because my k800i only supports 2100mhz 3G and no HDSPA

Well, I just got a call from Optus Customer Relations because I filed a complaint against the store that I rainchecked with because they didn't tell me till after I signed the contract that they had none in stock and it was being rainchecked.

They credited my account for one months service

P.S. The store told me by the end of the week, but yeah I don't really trust them lol.
