I called Optus World in Crown Street Wollongong and apparently they had a bunch of raincheck iPhones in this morning; they said they'll call me when they are ready to pick up. I asked how long...? They said an hour but to wait for their call. It's been 90 minutes so I might just head up there...I'm convinced I'll be disappointed and it'll all be some terrible mistake, but what the hell...

Well i have to find a store that can get me the phone and put one on hold. Once i find one i go to telechoice tell them to cancel my contract and RCO but to retain the number. Once that is done i am free to go to the store that has one on hold for me sign the new contract and i am done.

see if the TIO can help ecto...cause when you ring the Optus customer relations mob they are usually the ones who can do stuff that noone else can, I've said I want out of the contract, unless they can courier me a handset overnight...see what they say either way (unless of course the store says mine is here then I will pick it up and swear at them :P )

well im offically the last person at my OW to get there iphone from the friday the 11th . Everyone else has theres by now and im still waiting, i was last to sign up on friday. I rang them today and they said they have no idea when there r getting more. Man im extremely fucking pissed off. i could almost cry. Its so fustrating and the manager of the store just doesnt give a fuck when i call to ask azbout it i mean its almost 2 weeks this is bullshit. thinking bout terminating contract tomorra and going back to vodafone at least i can get one straight away

hmmm just called my local optus and now they're saying they're not sure when i'll be getting my iphone. last week they said by friday the 18th. called on friday, said maybe monday.... i think ecto's got the right thinking here

Every optus world i have just rang up said they have no iphones in stock. That includes allphones and other optus dealers. and all said you have to sign a contract first.

They guy at allphones frankston did say, we are telling people 2-3 weeks but it happens in a week.

Most stores have said the 26. But that's a Saturday. lucky i have yet to cancel my RCO and contract.

Well i just going to keep my RCO and contract till i find a optus dealer, that can get me a 16gb iphone with out having to wait days/ weeks.

Ive rainchecked a black 16gb at Allphones @ TTP and I called them yesterday for an update and they stated that Apple only ship 2-3 to them at a time, usually every couple of days. They then just go to the next person on the list.

Mine should be here tomorrow!! yay

OK advice please people...

I "signed" a contract with Optus over the phone on launch day for a 16g black. I was told August 1st, being in a regional place I jumped at it because I didn't know what the alternatives would be.

Visited my Allphones here today, they said if I signed a contract I would likely see the phone in 3, 4 days.

I am getting restless now, should I wriggle out of my agreement with Optus and sign straight up through Allphones? Or is that too risky, I might end up waiting past August 1 if their info is not quite right.

Also, this promise of August 1st with Optus, would that still be on track or are there delays?

I wouldn't believe any timeframe I heard now...and if the store I ordered through hasn't called by this arvo I will be pursuing my request to have the contract voided...then I am going to wait until such time as I can walk in off the street and buy one at my leisure...which will be through "3" :P
