What I found annoying when I signed up last week was,
it has apparently changed and even though I am on the $79 cap with 16gb iPhone for a 24 month period it is now $2 a month for the handset. $48.. When before on the pricing that we got originally it was free. Should I bother arguing with this over $48?

Yeah I bounced around on this yesterday and was eventually told by the customer care people that my contract cancelation fee would be waived if I cancelled before receiving my phone.

Collins/Eliz Optus Store is now just getting ridiculous, it takes 15-20min every time just to talk to their "not-so-friendly" customer services, and you can see the grunge in their face when ever you say the word "Iphone". I now notice that this is clearly not a one-man's opinion and I hope Optus stores in CBD can get their priority straight and make some sensable correspondance to this matter.
Ordered Post Paid 16GB-Black on last monday (14th) and when someone saids 2-4 weeks last week, I wasn't expecting 2-4 weeks this week.
Understocked and Overdemanded... Something that should have been looked upon before Jul 11

I have no pity for any Optus World staff...they enforce these bizarre requirements...they put up with the fallout :P

Laughalot: my girlfriend was told to expect her 16G black at Optus Collins St tomorrow (Wednesday) after she ordered it on the 15th. It will be interesting to see if they actually deliver on their promise. Just a tip - check that you are actually entered into their system as my rain check that I also made on the 15th from there was invalid and now I am signed up via Optus direct and will get mine on 1 August. Call Optus directly and get them to pull up your record on their system so that you know its at least there and not scribbled down on a manual form sitting in a pile somewhere!
Fingers crossed for Collins St tomorrow!

Is your raincheck entered as part of the contract? is your position in the queue also noted? or just date/time signed up?

Rain check was entered in to as part of the contract, we were told to expect the new account bill and billing number within a month. No rain check number was recorded on the form, they are so busy they all just go in a pile and get date sorted, I saw no evidence of accurate hourly sorting.

Unbelievable, I have just been billed by Optus for my new iphone plan despite having no iphone and no way of using a 3g service with my current handset. Optus store's attitude was basically 'tough', with no news on new deliveries.
I have complained to the TIO re Optus' disclosure policies. Whoever started the thread 'don't sign a contract without leaving the store with an iphone' - I should have listened to you.
Ex loyal Optus customer.

Is this upgrade compulsory or can you choose to stay on a consumer plan?

Its not compulsory, but I dont think anyone would want to stay on the consumer plans once the business plans are released since they will offer better value.
