Thanks. I will ring Optus. Would i be best to ring the store i went to, or just the optus customerline?
I am just worried about not having iphone 3g service where i live, and if need be, i might need to swap back to telstra

speak to the store first...then give the TIO a quick yell and go from there...find out what your rights are in this situation. If you can can the contract for a cooling off period all the better. When you speak to the TIO the operative words here are that you felt pressured into taking the phone there for fear of missing out...and they can't dispute that because that is the main theme everyone has had here.

Honestly...wouldn't you flipping think that someone in Optus could think up "HEY! we've gotten all these orders and gotten all these people to sign contracts. Why don't we just get them all from the stores and courier them direct to the customer so they don't have the hassle of having to call all the time, and our stores don't have the hassle of customers without phones calling all the time...It would also pool all our resources so when a store that has 20 orders gets 100 and a store with 100 gets 20 we can even it out!"
But I guess noone thinks like that

Damn, Apple know how to market a new product.....but don't know how to supply with huge demand.
I signed up on a Optus Post plan on Sat the 12th (at Allphones, Mt Barker, SA) and was told 7-10 days. But could be anytime. Whenever it arrives...
I was also told I would be called when it arrives, but will they really call? With the amount of inbound calls they would get over this, and the amount of rainchecks they have to make outbound calls to when they get the iPhones in, that and the other work they have, will they really have time to call everyone?? I'm thinking they wont. So will ring daily...NO hourly lol. I just want my iPhone

They have a duty to call everyone seeing as they made it mandatory for people to go onto contracts in order to even order one of these.

I would, If i was Optus. Even though most of us have gone through optus dealers, We are still contracted to optus. As such it should be them, How would do everything to help fix this issue. At the end of the day it be optus up that creek and not the dealer, As all the dealer have done was supply us with the phone not the serves.

Read the full question dude. "will they really have time to call everyone??"
I wasn't questioning if they will or not, I was questioning if they will have time with the amount of resources.
Btw, Im presuming you comment is related to my post above yours. If not, my bad.

mate...I haven't taken it seriously at all lol...I'm not an Optus employee I don't know how they run the stores so I wouldn't have a clue as to how they will ring everyone...but they have to don't they? maybe they'll hire temps to ring people or outsource it to the Optus call centre...who know?
