Ordered a 16gb (white) on Wednesday, got the call Thursday morning (Optus Tuggeranong (ACT)). Also a two day turnaround on my wife's 8gb.

Picked up my 16GB black iPhone from Knox Optus World yesterday evening. Didn't get the call but thought I'd walk in to check and lo and behold! They already have it! I called just one day before and they said another week! So do try and walk in and ask nicely, if they do have stock, they might just give it to you!
I think it's consistent with reports that phones are coming in more now so hopefully everyone gets theirs soon!

OW Brunswick (VIC) update
My 16GB Black is there waiting for me!!! I nearly went in on the way home last night after reading that there seemed to be a lot of stock but didn't as I had a friend coming for dinner, I just called and its there, unfortunately I'm at work until 5pm but they are open until 7pm so definitely getting it in 6 hours!!
For other Brunswick OW people they have a lot of stock and she said they are working through the list of people to call (I called them before they called me).
So excited!!!!!

How hard is it to get out of a contract if you have signed up for one over the phone? I was meant to get my 16gb iPhone Black from Optus last Friday, been told Sept 12 now. Don't want to wait that long.
I know now there are others on here in exactly the same or extremely similar situations to me.
There seems to be the two scenarios - the OW store or over the phone. I REALLY wished I'd gone into a store now.
Also - how do you avoid having to ring Sales Support and sitting on hld for 1.5 hours?

Its good to see some positive news on this thread. As a new iphone owner let me stress once again; the key is to keep visiting the store and trying your luck. Looks like that strategy has worked not just for me, but for a few others on this thread. Keep showing up and pretend to feel sorry for their situation. The sympathy vote is the way forward to the top of the queue.
My experience suggests that there is no real formal queue. Its pieces of loose paper stacked up at the back of the store. They just simply couldnt handle the demand. In such an environment, bending the rules for "that nice guy who keeps coming in and sympathizing with my situation" is possible!
I pulled it off & so can you!

Thanks to a MacTalk tip, got a 16gb white from Strathfield Southland on $79 cap.
My advice is to call and cancel any rainchecks over the phone and wait until they are in stock in a store near you - only way to avoid being screwed around it seems.

just recieved my 16gb white today 8th august from macquarie center optus shop. originaly wanted a black which i RC on the 17th but i got them to put me on the white list aswell. i was 13th on the white list on monday and 40th on the black list. it seems that they are getting stock much quicker now. if you RC'ed at macquarie center "sydney" on around the 17th then go and see if yours is there, or just be really nice to them and hope for the best.

Yes definitely seems stock is moving now. Or possibly the raincheck queues are getting smaller hence the trickle of stock coming in is almost sufficient to meet demand.
I did a quick check at my work of who actually has the new iPhone and I counted 4 people including myself out of 35 or so people in my section. 2 guys on Telstra, and 2 on Optus.

I just checked on this and after waiting 58mins was told the 12 Sep (even though I had ordered on July 14 and was told I'd have it by 13 August). I'm going o/seas in 2 weeks and need the phone for travel so I cancelled the phone. I hate them. I hate them. I hate them.
Where can now get an Optus plan black 16gb in the next 2 weeks?? |
