You can check your data usage in the settings of the iPhone. Settings -> General -> Data Usage or something like that.
I'm interested in knowing how much I've used up in calls. Anyone know hwo to check this?

it also shows total call times under the data usage.
If you know your billing date (Vodafone give you that in myvodafone and I assume Optus). On that date you just rest all under data usage.
Interestingly so far my phone has more usage recorded than Vodafone does. Not sure what could be causing that, unless there is some free stuff on Voda.

AFAIK live billing is not offered by Optus, and as such there is no way to see how much of your call allowance you have used up.
Again, I asked about this when ordering my iPhone and the guy on the phone told me that Optus were looking at implementing a live billing system "soon" but he did not offer any specific dates or details.

Not so. It's 'Cellular Network Data' not voice calls. It's data only.

I think hes talking about the talk time usage. Its both phone out and phone in talk time. So you cant use that as guide for how much of your call credit you've used.

Well, I have linked my iPhone account to Optus' live billing system. It appears to be both for Plan and Caps, and prepaid for that matter. (That is, there is an option that cap uses can use: usage alerts that I can't on a Yes! customer).
When I log in it says:
"This service will be temporarily unavailable while account setup is in progress. Please try again later."

Okay - I have set up my account with Optus online and clicked "My Usage" and it lets me see how much of my credit I have used. Interestingly, it lists the times I have used the internet.... and is charging me for it!!!
I downloaded 1474kb of data and they charged me $0.46. Um, something is wrong there for sure. Isn't the first month free? I'm on the $79 cap!

Okay - just spoke to customer care - they saythe usage is NOT indicative of the bill. The usage shows the raw amount as it would be charged, then the billing system "works its magic" where they apply the cap rates, etc.
PHEW!

When you sign up with Optus they should give you a username and password. You can log into Optus online with that and "manage your account". When you log in, you need to actually tell it you have a mobile phone and link that account with your Optus online account. You'll need your billing account number - call customer service and ask them and they'll give it to you.
I set mine up yesterday and wasn't able to immediately check how much credit I had used... but this morning it shows me what calls I made, how long they went for, what it cost, etc.
