It's these types of questions I don't get. I'm sure you've waited to get a ticket to see a movie, concert or something else and you know what, its just a movie or a concert. It's not like you can't watch it, listen to the song some other time.

To me it wasn't just about queuing for a phone it was more than that, it was being part of something special, it was being able to get excited about something so perfect an so unique. Why do people line up at the louvre for hours? I'm willing to go out on a limb and actually say that the iPhone is a piece of art as its designed so well, runs so smoothly and has endless possibilities.

No queuing for it = no iPhone for about 4 weeks, maybe more. The wait wasn't that long.

As Shaxbon said, people queue for concert tickets etc all the time. At least this is a product worthy of a queue.

Last time in a Strathfield store for me.
That's really bad. I'm glad you walked (although it's a shame that meant you didn't get a phone).

I'm happy to report that the Optus store in Camberwell was a completely different experience. The store owner came around and took coffee orders and bought everyone what they asked for. He then came around twice after that with biscuits. Really, really nice guy who clearly realised this was a special moment for quite a few people and did everything he could to make it more enjoyable. I will definitely shop there again.

How nice is it when store staff are actually nice. I went into the mac reseller opposite fed square on the weekend so the misses and I could check out the new iPhone. They didn't have any stock left, but they let us play with the demo one. Didn't try and get us on a waiting list, no hard sell, no nothing. Just nice people who were as excited about it as I was. They were also pretty stoaked to have a look at my first gen iPhone and have a play with that.

5 people around me laughed, and she moved on.
I don't think I have laughed that hard in a while.

At least when you line up for an iPhone you know you'll end up happy. Lining up for Collingwood finals tickets is doomed for failure.

It's funny. All you have to do is say something nobody understands and they'll do practically anything you want them to.
