Angry SIM Locked every time the iPhone is Booted

I have a 3G iPhone that was unlocked to a new TELSTRA SIM I got to replace my old one in my 2G iPhone. The NEW iPhone phone works well but every time I reboot the iPhone after a power off I have to enter the SIM unlock code. Anyone have any idea why this is and how to stop it happening?
Thanks in advance

Have you checked your settings, for things like a Passcode lock etc?

Go to Settings>Phone>SIM PIN>On/Off.

Thanks that fixed it. Would have been good for the Telstra rep to inform me that this was going to happen and luckily I asked to keep the SIM card carrier with the PIN on it! He was going to throw it away.
Thanks for the help.
