Overall this is a very good phone, but:

- Wish it could take 30second video clips.
- Opening contacts has a 3-4 second lag before you can search through them.
- Battery doesnt last long with intensive 3g useage.

Keyboard is very easy to get used to (I was hopeless the first day) and the auto correction works well.

I'm not getting an iPhone until it gets:
  • Tethering (preferably via bluetooth)
  • Bluetooth file exchange
  • An app like TomTom
  • Copy/Paste

I'd also like SMS received notification, and until then, I'll stick to my P1i, which does all of this and almost everything that the iphone can do. Only problem with my current phone is the web browser, its horrible, but opera 9.5 may fix that. I'm also going to wait and see how the new Symbian OS and Android will turn out.

+1 for copy and paste - although it'd be interesting which gesture they'd use to highlight text since most are taken

And I wish they'd fix youtube over wifi - it seems a number of people are having issues with uber slow youtube streams over wifi

Other than that, I <3 my iphone

I hate that it's going to take weeks for me to get a replacement for my defective unit

Mine isn't a iPhone issue but iTouch. I installed FW 2.0 and a few apps and trying to play music now on my ipod speakers it is just locking up and then turning off.

I was playing one of the new games on the weekend when it first locked up and this is first time I have tried listening to music through it.

Anyone else have issues with FW 2.0 and iTouch or should we start a new thread.

iPod Touch FW 2.0 -
I have had a couple of lockups/freezes with some of the new apps, but I am confident that FW 2.1 and software updates will fix the issues.

I got a DOA unit but luckily enough I was in apple store and got the replacement right on the spot. cannot imagine if I was standing in one of the outlets and sales rep told me "sorry, this is our last unit, we don't know when the next shipment will arrive"

back to the topic, +1 for asphotos complaint, cann't attach a file even an image in email is stupid. also my list goes:
1. crashes too many times
2. battery life is a serious concern
3. cannot add a new contact when making a call.

I don't see the point in complaining about things that you should have known wasn't going to be available (bluetooth tethering/file transfer, MMS etc).

Emailing - no need to add an attachment given you can't store files on the iPhone. You can send a photo via email (browse photos, choose to send via email for the photo you want to send). You can forward emails that have attachments and it asks if you want to include the attachment.

I'd rather read about actual problems people are having than things that they wish were included but should have known wasn't going to be.

Wife and I are having some problems with hers.

Picked up an 8Gb from T-Life on Sunday for her. I'm waiting for a 16Gb on optus.

It won't sync with iTunes. when I plug it into our mac iPhoto boots up, but we can only copy photos from Phone to mac, not other way around.
iTunes doesn't even recognize a device exists. so I plugged her nano into the same cable, and bingo. yet no iphone.

She then connected to her work wifi last night, and tried to use itunes.

There's someone else's itunes account loaded on her phone. michael.someone@bigpond.com!!!

and the stupid thing is, I loaded MY itunes settings into the telstra computer as part of the unbricking!!!

Help. please. anyone....

I had the same problem with GPS tracking. When following the route directions the little blue dot would disappear off the edge of the map and wouldn't reappear unless I pressed the "next" arrow. A little distracting whilst trying to drive!

People who say that it does work for them, are they travelling off the edge of the map on the screen?

I really like my iPhone, but it is not the be all and end all of mobiles.

It is just a very intuitive OS wrapped around an fairly average mobile.

As people have touched on:-
*Battery life is awful
*Camera is very poor
*MMS not available

Other issues highlighted by the iPhone:-
*All Data plans in this country suck!!

I've got a bright spot near the bottom right of the screen. Not light a stuck pixel, but as if someone pressed against the screen, like a bruising I can wait to have that fixed until the optus stores start geting more in stock.

Other than that, I kinda miss the jailbroken stuff like cached maps and the carrier logo. Other than that I'm loving the 2.0 firmware and the 3G/More like EDGE speeds
